ROOM ATTENDANT
A vacancy currently exists for a Room Attendant at Golden Gate National Park, based at Highland Mountain Retreats. Reporting to the Duty manager.
Location Golden Gate Highlands National Park
Requirements
- Grade 12 or NCV Level 4.
- 1–2 years’ work experience in public cleaning or a tourism environment.
- Certificate in Public Cleaning or Learnership will be an added advantage.
- Experience in cleaning in a hotel or similar establishment will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of First Aid.
- Hygiene skills.
- Ability to understand English.
- Punctual, neat and responsible.
- Ability to comply with OHS regulations.
Responsibilities
- Cleaning in and around rooms (changing bed linen, sweeping and mopping floors or vacuuming, polishing furniture, emptying trash containers.
- Cleaning public areas.
- Reporting abnormalities to the supervisor
- Controlling inventory items and ensure that the appropriate amount of inventory items is present in chalets.
- Reporting maintenance defaults in the maintenance register
- Assisting in laundry when necessary.
- Delivering high-quality service and being committed to continuous improvement.
- Managing customer expectations.
- Addressing customer needs.
- Evaluating customer service.
- Responding to and anticipating client needs in timely, professional, helpful and courteous manner, using effective interpersonal skills.
- Working over weekends and on public holidays as well as working shifts and assisting in other departments at the request of management.
- Effectively planning, scheduling, prioritising, and controlling activities.
- Organising and prioritising tasks so they can be performed within the specified time and achieve the most efficient use of time.

Responsibilities
Support And Administer Procurement Processes

- Compile the necessary evaluation form and Memo.
- Coordinate an evaluation meeting with the end user.
- Provide secretarial services for the evaluation meeting.
- Assist with facilitation of negotiating RFQ’s for below R500 000.
- Sourcing of suppliers on CSD.
- Assist in processing of invoices and payments.
- Checking of SCM compliance in line with National Treasury Regulation and SCM Policies and Procedures.
- To check that all received documents adhere to relevant legislation, internal and external finance policies, processes and regulations.
Procurement And Demand Management
- Provide administration support in bid and quotation process in line with the Demand Management Plan.
- Generate Purchase Orders.
Records And Reporting
- To maintain appropriate record of Standard Bidding Documents.
- To keep a record of all received requisitions.
- Maintain and submit SCM Registers on monthly basis to SCM Practitioner.
Contract Monitoring
- Monitoring of contract management and registers.
- Assist with updating the contract registers including expenditures.
- Coordinating the monthly contract management meeting.
- Issue formal notice of contract expiry dates and spending to end users.
- Sending contract expiry letters to the service providers.
- Perform any other responsibilities as assigned to by the supervisor.

HANDYMAN
A vacancy currently exists for a Handyman at Mountain Zebra National Park. The successful candidate will report to the Technical Officer.

Requirements
- Grade 12.
- Valid Driver’s license.
- 2 – 3 years’ work experience in a technical or maintenance field.
- SANParks applicable policies.
- General Maintenance.
- Basic Knowledge of Tools and equipment and handling thereof.
- Basic understanding of Occupational Health & Safety.
- Basic knowledge of building maintenance, plumbing, carpentry maintenance and equipment repairs.
- Basic general administration skills.
The following will be an added advantage:
- Driver’s license with PDP.
- Trade Certificate (Electrical, Aircon, Refrigerator, Plumbing, Carpentry).
Responsibilities
- Assist with general maintenance of the terrain, equipment and buildings in the park.
- Assists with the implementation of management plans.
- Attend to minor repairs into related trades work or installations and report the need for major repairs to the supervisor.
- Assist with maintaining infrastructure – buildings, fence, roads, machinery, etc.
- Periodic maintenance checks and operating of water supplies equipment – windmills, water pumps, etc.
- Assist with maintenance of roads and Erosion Control.
- Carry out minor and major paint work.
- Undertake minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry work.
- Assist the supervisor with assessing and inspecting work done by the contractors.
- Conduct inventory of assets and equipment.
- Conduct monthly stock control and daily vehicle inspections.
- Maintain record of supplies used and purchased.
- Assist in performing general administration tasks – maintenance book, vehicle log-sheets, timesheets, etc.
- Provide daily feedback of the previous day’s maintenance activities to the supervisor.
- Identify and report the need for major repairs to the supervisor.
- Assist the supervisor with supply chain procurement processes in sourcing of quotes, purchase orders and all other related documentation.
- Assist with prescribed burns and Veld Fire Suppression/s.
- Check and ensure annual servicing of fire extinguishers and equipment.
