TSHWANE UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY (TUT)

 

 

NOMINATIONS/APPLICATIONS

The Tshwane University of Technology is a recognised public university situated in the greater Tshwane Metropolitan Area, with campuses in Polokwane, eMalahleni, and Mbombela. The Tshwane University of Technology is one of the largest contact universities in South Africa. 

In terms of section 27 of the Higher Education Act (Act 101 of 1997), a public university must establish a council to govern the university subject to this Act and other applicable laws and statutes. 

 

The University seeks to appoint individuals in the following categories: 

Finance Expert on Council 

Nominations or applications are invited in terms of paragraph 8 (2) of the Statute for suitably qualified persons to be considered to serve as the Finance expert on Council. 

 

Minimum requirements 

•A recognised postgraduate qualification in Finance / Accounting

•10 years’ experience in finance / accounting of which 5 should be at executive management.

•Professional Affiliation in the financial / accounting services field.

 

Legal Expert on Council 

Nominations or applications are invited in terms of paragraph 8 (2) of the Statute for suitably qualified persons to be considered to serve as the Legal expert on Council. 

 

Minimum requirements 

•A recognised postgraduate qualification in Law.

•10 years’ experience in the legal profession of which 5 should be at executive management.

•Professional Affiliation in the legal field.

 

 

 


 

In addition to the above requirements, the applicants/nominated candidates should have the following attributes: 

•Integrity

•Ethical leadership

•Experience in the relevant fields

•Knowledge of the higher education sector

 

Experience in higher education will be an added advantage 

 

Process 

•Submission of a detailed curriculum vitae supported by relevant qualifications and the contact details of two referees.

•All nominations must be accompanied by a consent note from the nominee with his/her signature.

•Each nomination and/or application must have a detailed motivation outlining the reasons why the nominee/applicant is a suitable candidate.

•A statement of declaration of conflict of interest, if any, and what the nature of the interest is.

 

Council meet at least three times per annum, but special meetings may be held if necessary.
