DEPUTY DIRECTOR: IT SYSTEMS

DEPARTMENT: Health 

BRANCH: Integrated Health Policy, Planning & Research (IPPR) 

DESIGNATION: Deputy Director: IT Systems 

REMUNERATION: R91 242.64 pm (basic salary, excluding benefits) 

LOCATION: Central 

 

Minimum Requirements: 

·       Grade 12 plus a Degree in Computer Science / Information Systems (Information and Communication Technology) or any related qualification (NQF level 7); 

·       8 year’s work experience with at least 5 years in a supervisory/managerial capacity; 

·       Three (3) years’ experience Project Management/Project Officer/ITSupport position; 

·       Experience in Information Technology within the healthcare sector will be an added advantage 

·       Valid Driver’s license; 

 

Primary Function: 

To direct and manage the team within the Sub-Unit regarding the performance and result indicatorsassociated with the provision of Information Technology systems and eHealth Infrastructure Development and Maintenance in the Health Department. Manage and coordinate the implementation of IT systems and eHealth Infrastructure Development and Maintenance. Facilitate the Information Technology training and change management in the department. Establish and maintain good working relations with the various internal and external stakeholders, including the departmental staff members, City’s departments and entities, spheres of government and service providers. 

 

Key Performance Areas: 

·       Manage the implementation of appropriate IT-related strategies, business plans and health strategic imperatives of the Municipality; 

·       Manage the implementation of IT and other systems in Health, including innovative eHealth Technologies that encompass electronic information record system(s); 

·       Manage and monitor the ongoing operational running of IT and other systems in Health, including innovative eHealth Technologies that encompass electronic information record system(s); 

·       Manage and monitor the ongoing operational running of IT and other systems in Health, including innovative eHealth Technologies that encompass electronic information record system(s); 

·       Lead and direct staff within the Sub-Unit so that they are able to achieve the objectives set for them, as well as defining/adjusting the role boundaries, workflow processes and job design against laid down service delivery requirements; 

·       Perform general duties and render support to the executive management; 

·       To promote accountability of employees and organizations in using resources and ensuring that implementation of objectives is met. To achieve required compliance by management unit to City PMS policy and other prescripts.

Core Competencies: 

·       Knowledge of Project Management Professional or Programme Management Professional or Prince 2 Practitioner or Prince 2 Programme Management Practitioner; 

·       Knowledge of servers, databases, desktops/laptops, PCs, peripherals, networks and the corporate web computing environment; 

·       Knowledge of training processes.
