Minimum requirements:

Duties and Key Performance Areas will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Reporting to the Chief Executive, the appointee will, as part of the executive team, assist the Board of Amatola Water to meet the organisational strategic objectives by overseeing the following Corporate Services functions of the organization:
  • Human Resources Management, Administration
  • Information and Communication Technology
  • Corporate Administration Support (inclusive of Records, Fleet, Facilities and Security management)
  • Provide input in respect of Corporate Services into the development of Amatola Water’s five-year business plan in consultation with the CE and Executive team members.
  • Support the CE with the implementation of strategy through tracking and monitoring departmental performance and reporting to the Board on performance achieved against the business plan on a quarterly basis.
  • Provide strategic advice to the business and the Board on Human Resource, Administration and ICT matters.
  • Provide input and develop the Amatola Water annual report for submission to the CE and The Board.
  • Provide input and develop the monthly, quarterly and annual reports in accordance with the relevant statutory requirements for submission to the CE and The Board.
  • Produce departmental performance reports aligned to the strategy of Amatola Water.
  • Oversee the implementation of the ICT governance framework and drive ICT initiatives within the organization at an executive level/governance champion.
  • Ensure efficiency, effectiveness and smooth operation of the Corporate Services Division.
  • Provide impartial advice and support to the management on Human Resources related matters.
  • Provide impartial advice and support to management on ICT related matters.

Minimum Experience:

  • 10 years’ experience in Infrastructure Management with 5 years at Senior/Executive Management level

Key Outputs:

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the appointee will:


  • Provide leadership and oversight with respect to the development and review of the organisation’s Infrastructure Master Plan and feasibility studies to ensure long term sustainability and profitability
  • Provide leadership and oversight to planning undertaken for clients to satisfy client expectations and increase Amatola Water’s market share
  • Provide leadership and oversight with respect to water demand management and conservation at Amatola Water to ensure water resources are used efficiently and effectively

  • Provide support for identifying target markets and develop plans and strategies that focus on the primary activity (as per the Water Services Act), yet exploring other secondary activities
  • Oversee assessment of staff competences to identify gaps requiring development and training
  • Coordinate the formulation and implementation of personal development plans for the division
  • Develop and manage all Capex funding on both internal Capex projects, and external projects
  • Formulate, manage and control all divisional annual operating budgets
