Job description
Northam Eland Platinum Mine has an exciting opportunity for a Rigger who will be responsible to ensure that maintenance, installation, and lifting conducted is in line with company requirements. Guided by our purpose and our values, we enable both high performance and purposeful action as we aim to promote “Smart Platinum Mining ", delivering on metals (PGMs) including platinum, palladium, rhodium, iridium, ruthenium and osmium.
 
Qualifications
· NQF level 4 (National Senior Certificate or Grade 12 or Adult Senior Certificate) with English literacy or N2 in Engineering studies
· Completed formal learnership programme prior to obtaining a Rigger artisan trade certificate (Sect 13 or 26 D) as recognised by the MQA
 
Experience
At least three (3) years’ experience as an artisan Rigger in underground and surface mining
 
Key performance areas
As our Rigger some of your responsibilities will include but not limited to: 
· Maintenance of lifting equipment and tackle
· Maintenance on chairlift installation
· Perform lifting operations both surface and underground
· Prepare monthly reports regarding lifting equipment and tackle
· Perform planned maintenance on machinery and equipment
· Attend to breakdowns and installation/erection of machinery
· Adherence to Mine Health and Safety Act Regulations
 
Additional requirements
· Medical Certificate of Fitness
· Must be willing to work shifts
· Valid Driver’s license with own transport

​SHAFT TIMBERMAN

Job description
Northam Eland Platinum Mine has an exciting opportunity for a Shaft Timberman who will assist and support the Shaft Foreman to optimise shaft efficiency through inspection and examination of conveyor belts and ore pass systems. Guided by our purpose and our values, we enable both high performance and purposeful action as we aim to promote “Smart Platinum Mining ", delivering on metals (PGMs) including platinum, palladium, rhodium, iridium, ruthenium and osmium.
 
Qualifications
· Senior Certificate or Grade 12 or Adult Senior Certificate with English literacy
· Blasting Certificate Holder (Metalliferous Mines) issued by DMRE
 
Experience
· At least two (2) years’ experience as a Shaft Timberman
· Experience in conveyor and chairlift operations
 
Key performance areas
As our Shaft Timberman some of your responsibilities will include but not limited to: 
· Supervise operations of conveyor belts, chairlifts and rock breakers
· Legal inspections and examination of decline shafts and refuge bays
· Regular inspections of conveyor belts, box fronts and tipping points
 
Additional requirements
· Must be willing to work overtime and shifts when required
· Medical Certificate of Fitness
