The .ZA Domain Name Authority (ZADNA) is the regulator and manager of dotZA (.ZA) – South Africa’s Internet namespace. ZADNA is a statutory entity founded in terms of Chapter X of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002. Its key responsibility is to license and regulate .ZA registries and registrars, and to develop and implement policy guidelines. Its offices are located at 72 New Rd, Glen Austin AH, Midrand, 1685, Gauteng Province.
ZADNA is seeking to appoint an Executive Manager – Technology and Digital Services who will oversee ZADNA’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Digital Services. The role includes driving growth in the .ZA namespace, developing strategies to strengthen the domain registration landscape, and ensuring technological excellence across the organisation.

ZADNA is seeking to appoint an Executive Manager – Technology and Digital Services who will oversee ZADNA’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Digital Services. The role includes driving growth in the .ZA namespace, developing strategies to strengthen the domain registration landscape, and ensuring technological excellence across the organisation.
KEY JOB DELIVERABLES:
Strategic Management:
• Implement ICT strategies, governance frameworks, and infrastructure plans.
• Analyse ZADNA’s strategic direction and translate it into actionable ICT roadmaps.
• Manage risks and enhance safeguards for ICT security.
Growth and Development:
- Design and execute strategies to stimulate the growth of the .ZA domain name space.
- Develop industry-wide training programs and expand the participation in the domain registration ecosystem.
- Convene and lead forums such as the ZA DNS Forum to foster innovation.
Operational Excellence:
- Oversee ICT infrastructure, ensuring stability, scalability, and security for DNS.
- Manage departmental audits and optimise operational efficiency.
- Secure ZADNA’s information assets and maintain business continuity plans.
Financial Stewardship:
- Develop and manage the department’s annual budget.
- Contribute to ZADNA’s revenue through strategic domain name initiatives.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government bodies, industry forums, and regulatory agencies.
- Represent ZADNA in policy discussions and industry events.
Leadership and Team Development:
- Inspire and lead a high-performing team.
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
- Mentor senior managers and implement effective performance management systems.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s Degree in IT or equivalent, postgraduate qualification advantageous.
• 7+ years of experience in DNS, IT Governance, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and related fields.
• Proven leadership experience in ICT or networking infrastructure sectors.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
- Strong business acumen and results-driven mindset.
- Expertise in South African internet governance and domain name systems.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and lead organisational change.
