Job Profile:
The role is responsible for the overall ground operations in the Eastern Cape and is expected to ensure that company policies, standards and practices are adhered to at all times.
Key responsibilities:
The person should be able to manage teams, think strategically and create and maintain a professional image; to uphold sound partner relationships and to be competent in managing emergency situations. As a member of a national multi-disciplined operations team, this person will be responsible for planning, budgeting and coordinating the execution of the HAT operational plans and implement the development strategy within the area of responsibility. It is a strategically important management position requiring negotiating, logistics control, interpersonal and management skills as well as sound knowledge of company policies. This person must be able to apply the company strategies and have a professional and ethical disposition; lead, monitor and evaluate the performance of regional managers reporting to this position; be able to develop sound relations with all stakeholders in the area of operations. To negotiate and manage the implementation of base partner agreements, APO’s, budgets and BOP’s.

- Grade 12
- Diploma or Degree in Environmental Management
- Minimum of 5-8 years management experience would be an advantage
- Demonstrated leadership, management and coordination skills
- Candidate must be able to attend and pass all training relating to the work e.g. rope access, chainsaw, herbicide
- Candidate must have sufficient physical fitness to be able to lead and evaluate teams on site in mountainous and rough terrain and be prepared to camp on site where necessary.
- Experience in catchment management, invasive plant control
- Ability to work in a team, take instructions and carry them out accurately
- Ability to work unsupervised and to think strategically and be able to make own decisions
- Ability to work under pressure during emergency situations
- Excellent writing, presentation and reporting skills
- Be self-confident, with excellent communication skills and be able to speak effectively in public forums
- Computer literacy-competency in Microsoft Suite. GIS or mapping qualification/experience advantageous
- A valid driver’s licence
- To be in a position to acquire a reliable laptop
- Own cell phone
- Be prepared to travel in and around Eastern Cape and to be away from home regularly
