All-inclusive Remuneration Market-Related (Cost to Company)

The Western Cape is a leading regional economy. As the Projects Co-Ordinator - Leisure Tourism, you will be instrumental in assisting the DMO in fulfilling its mandate of enhancing the competitive image of the Western Cape, through boosting the awareness of the destination. This will require a deep understanding of the role of a DMO, and the destination.
 
Purpose of the Job:
The appointee will provide assistance by aligning and managing the visitor experience strategies, specifically related to Cape Cycle Routes, Cradle of Human Culture and Great Wine Capitals. The role will require travel to the regions to find out more about the experiences on offer and support the leisure events supported by the DMO. 
 
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3 years’ administrative experience in an organisation within the tourism sector
  • An appropriate qualification in administration or office support
  • Proven track record and/or exposure to tourism office environment.
  • An understanding or knowledge of the tourism industry
  • Valid Code B driver’s license

Duties:
  • Stay informed and updated on current tourism offerings in the province, to ensure fresh content and experiences are included in the DMO content plan (via MCU)
  • Stay abreast of all relevant research relating to domestic and international markets, as well as possible experiences that could be promoted in each of the markets the DMO focuses on
  • Assist the team with the product offering in the creating of itineraries for media hosting, tour operators, and monthly domestic campaigns
  • Gather content for sharing and amplification on Wesgro engagements via the MCU (i.e. fam trips, hostings, trade shows, events) on the Wesgro platforms
  • Support the Product & Communications Specialist in maintaining product and itineraries on Wesgro assets
  • Communicate with RTOs/LTOs and stakeholders for key DMO strategies (e.g. RTO Forums, Best of Wine Tourism Awards etc)
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, RTOs, LTOs, and the private sector
  • Gather content for social posts for Cape Cycle Routes and Cradle of Human Culture and relevant B2B and B2C content for Great Wine Capitals
  • Update and maintain Cradle of Human Culture, Cape Cycle Routes, and Great Wine Capitals websites
  • Assist with administrative duties for RTO Forums, GWCs steering committee meetings etc
  • Assist with hosted engagements (influencers, media, competition winners etc)
  • Compile reports for all hosted activities and media collaborations attended, in order to measure ROI

The Western Cape is a leading regional economy. As Chief Financial Officer you’ll be instrumental advising the CEO and the Board on the strategic direction of the Agency. This is integral in ensuring that the Western Cape remains an investment destination of choice for global and local investors, a sought-after source market for goods and services and a filmmaker’s hub on the continent. As part of the Executive Leadership Team, you’ll play a key role in ensuring that Wesgro punches above its weight as a leading sub-national TIPA (Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) globally.
 
Purpose:
To support the achievement of Wesgro strategic and operational objectives by managing the finances of Wesgro within the legislative framework, by employing cost-effective financial skills, systems and procedures in order to render a quality service to all stakeholders. The position is also responsible for the corporate services function which oversees Supply Chain and Infrastructure.
 
Requirements:
  • A 3-year or 4-year academic qualification in any of the Accounting (Finance fields) e.g. B Accounting, B Com Accounting etc.
  • An accreditation as a Chartered Accountant [CA(SA)] and registered with SAICA
  • An MBA or equivalent postgraduate degree would be advantageous
  • 10 years’ experience in a similar role of which at least 5 years were at Executive level
  • Board experience and a mix of public and private sector experience will be advantageous
  • Passionate about Cape Town and the Western Cape and creating jobs
 
Experience in the following areas:
  1. Generally Recognised Accounting Practices (GRAP),
  2. Generally Accepted Accounting Practice (GAAP),
  3. Compliance with Public Finance Management Act (PMFA)

  5. Treasury Regulations
  6. Financial Management variance analyses and reporting internal control measures & implementation
  7. Managing financial and internal audit processes associated with the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors
  8. Facilitating operational efficiency
  9. Corporate Governance
  10. Experience with the following financial and payroll packages: eWorkflow, Sage 300 (AccPac), Norming for assets, CRM, CSD portal, e-Tender Portal, eMargination Management Reporting and CaseWare
 
Duties:
  • Financial Management including financial reporting and accounting
  • Budgetary Control and Cash Management
  • Implement effective internal control systems in the accounting cycle
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders including funders and other provincial agencies
  • Overseeing the preparation and submission of the annual financial statements with the Auditor General
  • Advising the Board and Accounting officer on matters relating to strategic financial implications
  • Identify and pre-empt malpractice and corruption
  • Provide technical advice and support to senior and line managers
  • Strategic co-ordination and alignment of, amongst others, 5-year Strategic Plan, Annual Board Plans (ABP), Annual Performance Plans (APPs), Operational Plans and Business Model
  • Ensure Agency-wide compliance with relevant risk processes and procedures in line with existing policies and procedures as well as feedback from the internal Auditors and Financial Auditors
  • Ensure effective corporate governance of Wesgro, as well as full compliance and risk management in line with governing bodies and legislation

GREEN ECONOMY SPECIALIST

As Green Economy Specialist you’ll be instrumental in positioning the Western Cape as a leader in the Green Economy, by building relationships in the sector and supporting the retention and expansion of existing investments in the region so that the Agency can achieve its mission and strategic objectives in the technology space. This is integral in ensuring that the Western Cape remains an investment destination of choice for global and local investors, a sought-after source market for goods and services and a filmmaker’s hub on the continent. As part of the Executive Leadership Team, you’ll play a key role in ensuring that Wesgro punches above its weight as a leading sub-national TIPA (Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) globally.
 
Purpose:
Armed with a deep understanding of investment life cycles, current investment activities, and stakeholders operating within their focus sector, the Green Economy Specialist will provide investors with an end-to-end support structure to ensure projects are successfully and easily commercialised in the province.
 
Requirements:
  • A 3-year Business degree or similar qualification in commerce
  • 5 years’ working experience in a client relations and relationship management in renewable energy, green economy or related fields
  • An ability to network off and leverage from businesses in the sector as well as service providers who can support inbound investors
  • Knowledge of, and a keen interest in the green economy and its applicability to Africa
  • Knowledge of African markets and/or African sustainable development.
  • Ability to understand and work with other units at Wesgro to promote cross-selling of opportunities
  • Evidence of extensive business development experience
  • Ability to plan and execute local travel to promote focus sector to investors
  • Ability to positively position the region on both international and local platforms
  • Ability to engage will all levels of management, especially C-Suite
  • Ability to work closely with colleagues in the Investment Promotion team to enhance support to local investors
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • A valid Code B driver’s license and passport
 
Duties:
  • Initiate and/or propose project ideas aimed at reducing carbon emissions and pollution, enhancing adaptation to climate change, ensuring that resources are used efficiency, and preventing the loss of biodiversity and ecosystem services;
  • Host clients that are visiting the region and develop structured itineraries to enhance their visit
  • Leverage networks (i.e. investor contacts, governmental contacts) to facilitate the investment process by promoting green growth and climate resilience development
  • Provide strategic direction in task teams that are working to improve Wesgro’s investment promotion impact
  • Maintain and update investment project information according to internal business processes and prepare reports accordingly
  • Understand, manage and build a pipeline of potential investments focusing on the Green Economy
  • Plan and conduct in-market expeditions to promote opportunities in the Western Cape region to businesses
  • Work closely with key units internally at Wesgro to support cross-collaboration in client business support

ACCOUNTANT

Purpose:
The Accountant will be responsible for performing relevant accounting activities in accordance with local and IFRS reporting standards and ensures compliance to local financial and tax legislations. The Accountant will assist the Financial Controller across the full spectrum of financial accounting operations
 
Requirements:
  • A 3-year or 4-year academic qualification in any of the Accounting (Finance fields) eg B Accounting, B Com Accounting etc
  • An accreditation as a Chartered Accountant [CA(SA)] and registered with SAICA will be an advantage
  • A postgraduate degree would be advantageous
  • Experience in both public and private sectors advantageous
  • 3 years’ experience in a similar role

  • Performs month-end close responsibilities in an accurate and timely manner to ensure accurate reporting
  • Posts journal entries, reconciles accounts and maintains a complete and accurate general ledger
  • Processes daily banking transactions
  • Conducts the tax reporting according to local rules, including the tax pack and handle any queries and variances
  • Supports continuous process improvements within the accounting and finance function
  • Ensures practices are compliant with good internal controls
  • Participates in ad-hoc analysis based on business needs
  • Financial Management including financial reporting and accounting
