Technical Officer – Sanitation Unit (Ref TO: SU)
(16 Month Contract)
This position calls for the services of a suitably qualified, well-motivated and results driven individual to take on the role of Technical Officer. As the Technical Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of a comprehensive, professional, and responsive technical and project support to the Sanitation Unit of the Water Research Commission. The Incumbent will form part of the Innovation and Impact Branch and will report to the Programme Manager: Sanitation Unit.
The ideal candidate must be in possession of an Honour’s Degree in a related field / RPL Accredited Certification at NQF level 8.
At least 1 – 3 years’ experience in project/programme management as well as 2 years’ research and development experience is essential. Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Project or similar software as well as strong report writing skills is essential. Technical background in the water sector would be advantageous.

The Technical Officer will be responsible for providing technical and project support to the Project Sanitation Unit. This will include providing research and project management and implementation support, developing and updating relevant database to monitor the Non-Sewered Sanitation System (NSSS) industry development, and evaluating and analysing project reports linkages to other science technology and innovation areas. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for repackaging of knowledge and Knowledge Dissemination (science reports for stakeholders) and providing marketing and communication support for the programme and innovators.
