Therefore, professionals are sought to lead in the role of Chief Digital Transformation Officer. The potential incumbent will provide strategic leadership to the University and will be responsible for shaping and executing a digital strategy that enhances teaching, learning, research and operational excellence.
As a member of the executive of the University, the incumbent actively supports the VC&P through the DVC: Resources and Operations in the strategic leadership and management of the University and in supervising administrative functions through line reports. Although each Executive is appointed in the first instance to oversee particular functions, these may change over the course of time at the VC&P discretion.

APPLICATION CRITERIA
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Master’s or MBA in Digital Transformation or a related field.
- A minimum B-Degree qualification in the Information Technology / Digital Innovation, Computer Science or a related field.
Required Experience:
- Minimum 10 years extensive experience leading digital strategy, transformation, or innovation initiatives in complex organisations, ideally with exposure to higher education or knowledge-intensive sectors.
- Minimum of 7 to 10 years Senior Executive Management experience.
- Proven track record of leading multidisciplinary teams, managing large-scale technology projects, driving cultural change, and engaging stakeholders at all levels, including senior executives and external partners.
- Ability to develop and implement a university-wide digital strategy that aligns with academic, research, and operational priorities, drives innovation, enhances the experience of students and staff, and ensures sustainable, data-driven, and secure adoption of digital technologies.
- Expertise in emerging technologies, data analytics, cybersecurity and digital platforms, with the ability to translate complex technology concepts into strategic, practical outcomes for the institution

- Master’s Degree or NQF level 9 in Management / Business Administration or related field.
- A minimum 4-year qualification in the Built Environment (Bachelor’s Degree or B. Tech) in Civil Engineering / Quantity Surveying / Building Science or related fields.
- Registration with a Professional body as described in the Council for Built Environment Act (No.43 of 2000) (The CBE Act) / Engineering Profession Act (EPA), 46 of 2000 / (Pr. Engineer, Pr. Technical Engineer, Pr. QS and Pr. CPM.C for the Built Environment Act).
Required Experience:
- Minimum 8 -10 years’ experience, 5 years of which must have been at a Senior Management in Strategic and Operational Management for Infrastructure Development i.e. Project Planning, Budgeting, Procurement, Development and Delivery, as well as post-delivery Infrastructure Maintenance and Facilities Management.
- An extensive solid understanding of Project Delivery Management, including governance protocols pertaining to project approvals, scope management, budgeting and project financial management, risk management and mitigation, and change management.
- Proven experience in the Delivery of Capital Projects in accordance with project management principles is a MUST including failed and delayed Infrastructure Project recovery.
- Support the execution of the university’s transformation plan.

BACKGROUND:
The Vice Chancellor & Principal, Prof Khehla Ndlovu is seeking like-minded professionals keen to contribute to the strategic direction and turnaround of the Vaal University of Technology. Therefore, professionals are sought to lead in the role of Executive Dean: Applied and Computer Sciences. The potential incumbent will provide strategic leadership to the University and take responsibility for the academic leadership and management of the Faculty through the provision of a high quality, technically advanced and cost-effective educational service in alignment with the strategic objectives of the University.
As a member of the executive of the University, the incumbent actively supports the VC&P as well as the DVC: Teaching and Learning in the strategic leadership and management of the University and in supervising administrative functions through line reports. Although each Executive is appointed in the first instance to oversee particular functions, these may change over the course of time at the VC&P discretion.

- A Doctoral Degree in the fields of Applied and Computer Sciences.
- An outstanding academic established track record and experience as Head of an Academic Department.

- Ten (10) years of lecturing/research experience with at least five (5) years in a managerial position, preferably in Higher Education.
