JOB DESCRIPTION: To Maintain and control the general Ledger and Financial Code structure of the VUT, render and assist the Snr Accountant and Director: Finance with Financial information and related duties.
Key performance areas include but are not limited to:
• Day end posting
• Daily Cash Flow Forecast
• Compile Journal Transfers
• Manage the budget on ITS and facilitate the budgeting process
• Closure of Month ends and Year ends including rolling over of year end balances.
• Compile Journals as and when necessary
• Compile monthly reports and monthly reconciliations
• Submit the monthly VAT return and supporting documents to SARS
• Provide financial information to internal and external auditors
• Calculate SRC Levies allocation.
• Maintain user restriction control over cost codes.
• Supervisory control over subordinates
• Balance the General ledger on monthly basis
• Check and authorise payment advices when requested if Snr Accountant is unavailable
• Handle queries from various departments
APPLICATION CRITERIA:
Qualification/Experience:
• B-Tech/B-Degree/Advanced Diploma Accounting / Internal Audit/Cost and Management Accounting/Financial Information Systems
• 3 years’ relevant experience as an Accountant
• Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables
• Experience with general ledger functions
• Additional certification (CPA or SAIPA) is a plus/Advantage
• Experience with ITS Integrator
Skills:
• Knowledge of VAT calculations, SARS e-filing, reconciliations and finance related duties. Communication skills, Accounting skills, Computer Skills, advanced Microsoft EXCEL (which will be tested during interview) and MS Word, and knowledge of ITS integrator is a must.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The main purpose of the position is to promote and support the use of emerging digital and other educational technologies in learning and teaching. It includes training of and support to academics in the development of learning materials.
Key performance areas include but are not limited to:
• Implement instructional design interventions for all 4 faculties of VUT that may lead to research publications of innovative practices. Analyse learning related data and produce reports related to the use of LMS and other ICTs for teaching and learning
• Support the curriculum development for technology enhanced teaching and learning
• Consults with faculties on instructional design and learning objectives
• Assists in the development of instructional strategies, course materials, assessment techniques, appropriate integration of instructional technologies and best practices
• Design and produces learning materials in a variety of formats including print, graphics, audio, video, animation and multimedia to support teaching and learning needs
• Provide assistance to faculties in technology tools and methods, use of instructional software, and effective uses of multimedia

Key Performance Areas include but not limited to:
Academic leadership – Develop and review course materials, teach and assess students at undergraduate/postgraduate levels, prepare teaching and learning portfolio as evidence of compliance to standards, and take part in department management tasks delegated by the HOD and report on achievement in PMC.
Research – propose and design research concept notes and concept maps for postgraduate research in field of specialisation in the department, undertake post graduate supervision and examination, research and publish accredited research outputs.
Develop curriculum in applicable field of specialisation - influence the development, maintenance, and control of curriculum in field of specialisation.
Industry relationship building and external engagement – Liaise with industry including consultation work, project proposals and collaborative research projects.
Community engagement – Develop community engagement project contents and study guides and take part in the implementation, participate in community flagship programme/projects.
Leadership, university administration and enhancement aspects

SENIOR LECTURER
Minimum requirements:
PhD/Doctorate degree with specialisation in hydrometallurgy and/or Mineral Processing, and / or Geo-Metallurgy.
A minimum of three (3) years of relevant (teaching, industrial or practice) experience.
DHET accredited research outputs: One (1) research output (accredited article)
Evidence of successful curriculum development and academic management
Evidence of active participation in professional, industry and/or community activities
Knowledge and experience of implementing quality assurance requirements
Specialisation in Hydrometallurgy and/or Mineral Processing and/or Geo-metallurgy.
Experience in the application of geological and mineralogical knowledge in metallurgy.
Liaison with Metallurgical Industry including consultation work

Key Performance Areas include but not limited to:
Academic leadership – Develop and review course materials, teach and assess students at undergraduate/postgraduate levels, prepare teaching and learning portfolio as evidence of compliance to standards, and take part in department management tasks delegated by the HOD and report on achievement in PMC.
Research – propose and design research concept notes and concept maps for postgraduate research in field of specialisation in the department, undertake post graduate supervision and examination, research and publish accredited research outputs.
Develop curriculum in applicable field of specialisation - influence the development, maintenance, and control of curriculum in field of specialisation.
Industry relationship building and external engagement – Liaise with industry including consultation work, project proposals and collaborative research projects.
Community engagement – Develop community engagement project contents and study guides and take part in the implementation, participate in community flagship programme/projects.
Leadership, university administration and enhancement aspects
Internal process – Conduct ad-hoc duties as assigned by the line-manager.

Minimum requirements:
PhD/Doctorate degree with specialisation in hydrometallurgy and/or Mineral Processing, and / or Geo-Metallurgy.

DHET accredited research outputs: One (1) research output (accredited article)
Evidence of successful curriculum development and academic management
Evidence of active participation in professional, industry and/or community activities
Knowledge and experience of implementing quality assurance requirements
Specialisation in Hydrometallurgy and/or Mineral Processing and/or Geo-metallurgy.
Experience in the application of geological and mineralogical knowledge in metallurgy.
