The International Relations Office is at the nucleus of internationalisation activities. This includes, inter-alia, strengthening existing major partnerships, building new functional links and paying focused attention to expanding relationships with universities, globally.
UWC is seeking an experienced and visionary Director of International Relations to lead, expand and enhance our substantive global engagement initiatives. This position requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of higher education dynamics and a proven track record in developing and managing international relations within a university setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for raising our international visibility and stature, improving the chances of securing large-scale joint funding for research, broadening the experience of staff and students, and equipping them to participate in the global knowledge economy. The role also requires the successful candidate to forge a close working relationship with Faculties and Research Centres to strengthen international partnerships, foster academic collaborations, and enhance the university’s global reputation.
The successful incumbent, reports to the Rector and Vice-Chancellor and is responsible for the following Key Performance Areas:
- Responsibility for the development and oversight of the University’s internationalisation strategy, supplemented by a rolling implementation and operational plan aimed at enhancing UWC’s reputation through internationalisation activities
- Facilitate the development of strategic alliances in pursuit of internationalisation
- Manage staff and all operational functions of the International Relations Office
- Develop and implement systems to lend support to the coordination of academic exchange and student mobility programmes
- Oversee the management and administration of internationalisation activity
Minimum Requirements: (Qualification and Experience)
- A Relevant Doctoral Degree (NQF level 10).
- At least 8 years’ experience at a senior-manager or manager level in higher education.
- Demonstrable leadership experience in international relations within a university or higher education setting.
- Experience with the international funding landscape including international mobility schemes.
- Demonstrated ability to build and sustain relationships with diverse stakeholders at a global level.
- Current knowledge of issues relating to internationalisation, higher education development, organisation, policy and management both within South Africa and internationally.
- Strong understanding of academic objectives and how international collaborations enhance institutional excellence .
- Knowledge of Higher Education and South African legislative frameworks and policies.
- Excellent communication and writing skills in English.
- Proven experience in overseeing and managing a busy team and the related administrative functions.
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills including the ability to manage teams.

Reporting to the DVC: Research & Innovation, the Director: Projects - Research and Innovation provides leadership for the strategic research agenda and initiatives within the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Research and Innovation. - Identifying strategic opportunities and directing the university's response to emerging research challenges and priorities
- Directing and overseeing grants and funding strategies for the Office of the DVC: Research and Innovation.
- Leading resource allocation decisions to support strategic research priorities.
- Developing sustainable funding models to support the university's research agenda.
- Leading communication and liaison strategies with high-level internal and external stakeholders.
- Establishing and nurturing strategic partnerships with industry, government, and international research bodies.

- An appropriate PhD Degree at NQF level 10.
- Must have at least 5 - 7 years of relevant experience.
- 5 Years’ relevant management experience in the higher education environment.
- Working knowledge of governance structures, policies and procedures in higher education.

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Credit Controller to join our dynamic Student Credit management , Finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for the efficient collection of student fees and the effective management of student debt, ensuring full compliance with university policies, statutory obligations, and payment arrangements.
Reporting to the the Specialist: Debtors, the key Responsibilities include :
Student Debt Collection:
- Engage with students, parents, sponsors, and walk-in clients via telephone, email, and face-to-face interactions to collect outstanding fees.
- Use systems such as Excalibur to view data, capture payment arrangements, and record follow-up actions.
- Reconcile student accounts and facilitate financial clearance during registration periods.
- Capture and process debit order to maintain accurate records.
- Monitor payment defaults and follow up promptly to resolve outstanding debts.
- Negotiate and process settlement arrangements in line with standard operating procedures.
- Prepare regular reports on collection performance.
- Liaise with internal departments (staff, faculties, Student Representative Council) and external contacts (sponsors, parents, potential students, vendors) to ensure seamless debt management.
- Support new system initiatives (e.g., Google Suite applications, system upgrades to Excalibur) to minimize paperwork and streamline the collection process.
Minimum Requirements
- A relevant National Diploma or equivalent qualification at NQF 6.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in credit control, debt collection, or a related financial role.
Competencies:
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Strong communication (verbal and written) and telephone skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
- Proficiency in using modern financial and data management systems.

Applications are invited for a dynamic, motivated individual as an Operator HVAC with technical skills and knowledge, to assist with maintenance, general facilities management and general administration.
Reporting to the Foreman, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Administrative:
- Maintain relevant and up-to-date records of all HVAC requirements
- Maintain asset inventory
- General assistance to the Foreman
- Raise and close Job Cards on the maintenance management system
Other Duties:
- General maintenance function to quickly analyse and solve HVAC issues and communicate effectively with the Foreman to determine how problems relating to HVAC concerns will be addressed and efficiently source and control parts and spares
- Deal with clients, service provider management and vendors
- Report on snags, issues and items affecting building condition and performance
- Update vehicle log book
- Assist the Foreman/maintenance manager to investigate and keep up to date with new products and technology which can assist the organization to reduce costs and improve service
- Ensure employees, buildings and equipment meet the relevant safety requirements in terms of the OHS Act and any other relevant regulations
- Repair damaged and faulty HVAC systems
- Must be able to do refrigeration repairs, fault finding, replacing of compressors and components.
- Ensure general House keeping is done (make sure work area stays neat and tidy)
- Attend to preventative maintenance schedules with SLA vendors
- Adhere to health and safety policies on site
- Ensure PPE adherence is followed
Minimum Requirements
- Matric
- 2-4 years' experience in HVAC general experience
- A valid driver’s licence (code EB) – with two years driving experience
Competencies :
- Computer literacy
- Ability to work without supervision
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Good knowledge of health & safety requirements in the workplace
Knowledge:
Central Air-conditioning systems and mechanical knowledge related to air- conditioning and refrigeration.
The person should be able to work Standby and overtime duties.
