SENIOR LECTURER (X 4 POSITIONS) - IN FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING, TAXATION, AUDITING AND FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
Requirements:
SENIOR LECTURER:
- A relevant Honours degree plus an accounting professional qualification (e.g., CA (SA), ACCA, CIMA)); or relevant Masters degree.
- 5 years of teaching experience at a tertiary institution or 7 years of professional experience in the relevant field.
- Possession of 5 publications is an advantage although not compulsory.
- The incumbent is expected to register for a Master’s within 2 years after appointment
Preferences will be given to candidates with teaching/academic experience at the Postgraduate level (PGDA/CTA); or final/exit level of BCom Accounting Sciences/Bachelor Accounting (SAICA accredited) degree.
Duties: The candidates are expected to teach at least two modules from the following: Financial Accounting, Tax, Auditing and Financial Management in the Department of Accountancy at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels in accordance with the requirements of syllabi by presenting lectures, tutorials and practical’s and assisting students with academic problems. Ensuring that the modules taught comply with the required academic and other standards by compiling lecture notes, study guides and practical manuals for approval and that studying remains up to date. Enhancing knowledge and skills in own field to benefit students and staff by collaborating on research projects, proposing/conducting own research, attending conferences/symposia, publishing/presenting papers, developing links with other academics locally and internationally and participating in the University’s community development program by preparing project proposals and leading/conducting approved projects. The successful candidate will contribute to the departmental administration by assisting with registration, selection of students, and preparing and submitting budgets relevant to their field of study.
