Duties and responsibilities:
• Conduct qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research across the SANRAL Chair’s niche areas.
• Take responsibility for data analysis and write-up of research reports on assigned projects within the SANRAL Chair
• Generate at least two (2) accredited research outputs as a lead author annually.
• Co-lead in designing, implementing, supervising, and evaluating the SANRAL Chair’s research, intervention, and post-graduate training projects.
• Contribute to resource mobilisation and internationalisation of the SANRAL Chair’s research and scholarship
• Co-lead and support research assistants, postgraduate students, and/or research interns in the SANRAL Chair.
• Supervise postgraduate students.
• Actively participate in engaged scholarship, policy advocacy and academic citizenship as related to the SANRAL Chair’s niche areas.
• Work in a team with colleagues within the SANRAL Chair and the Faculty of Education.
• Contribute to achieving the strategic, academic, and operational objectives of the SANRAL Chair and the Faculty of Education.
Inherent requirements:
• A doctoral degree on NQF Level 10 in Education with a focus on Curriculum/Instructional Leadership in schools.

• Master’s degree on NQF Level 9 in Education with a focus on Curriculum/Instructional Leadership in schools AND enrolled for a doctoral degree on NQF Level 10 in Education with a focus on Curriculum/Instructional Leadership in schools.

Inherent requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree/Advanced Diploma on NQF Level 7 or a three-year national diploma on NQF Level 6 in Agriculture or a related field.

Candidates interested in pursuing an academic or professional career in (research) Entrepreneurship, with special research interest in student entrepreneurship, women entrepreneurship, gender and small business development, are encouraged to apply.

• Register and reside as postdoctoral research fellow at the UFS and participate in relevant activities of the School of Postgraduate Studies and the Directorate of Research.
Eligibility requirements:
• Open to all South African and foreign nationals for full-time research at the University of the Free State.
• Graduated with a PhD degree in a relevant discipline within the last five years.
• Successful applicants may not hold full-time salaried employment during the fellowship.

Associate Professor
• A Doctoral degree on NQF Level 10 in Public Administration and Management or a related field.
• Proven record of teaching Public Administration and Management related modules at an undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, with a specific focus on Local Government Management, or Public Policy, and or Public/Municipal Finance.
• Experience as external examiner for postgraduate students.
• Proven experience in the presentation of research papers at national conferences, where there is evidence of peer review of papers.

• An NRF rating of C1 or C2 or equivalent status.
• Demonstrated successful supervision of graduated master’s-degree and preferably graduated doctoral students.
• Proven experience in delivering keynote addresses at national scholarly conferences.
• Served as a member of an international scholarly society OR an international committee or agency concerned with research at higher-education levels.
Recommendations:
• Member of a or registration at a professional body (applicable to Lecturer / Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor).
• Experience as a departmental leader/ manager in a higher education environment (applicable to Associate Professor and Professor).
