Duties and responsibilities:
•    To implement, manage, supervise, evaluate and develop the LLB programme following the LLB academic standards and the University of the Free State (UFS) standards.
•    Ensure the application of the quality assurance framework to the LLB programme and assume responsibility for the academic quality of the programme
•    Ensure that the General Rules and Regulations of the University and rules related to the LLB programme are adhered to, updated where needed and communicated to all staff in the Faculty of Law.
•    Ensure that the activities and operational plan of the LLB programme are undertaken following the University's governance, policy and regulatory frameworks.
•    Take responsibility with the Vice-Dean (Learning & Teaching) to develop and implement the strategic mission of the faculty within the broader University context, focusing on teaching and learning, innovation and digitalisation.
•    Take responsibility with the Vice-Dean (Learning & Teaching) to lead the faculty's Teaching and Learning (T&L) portfolio by guiding T&L policies, teaching approaches, digitalisation, and innovation in the field to ensure the smooth running of all T&L activities.
•    Provide academic advice regarding academic inquiries, amendments of rulebooks, schedules, timetables, etc.
•    Continuously look for new T&L needs from students, employers and other stakeholders.
•    Participate in student feedback mechanisms and complaints and appeals procedures as required.
•    Take responsibility with the Faculty Manager of Law to manage the academic administration associated with the LLB programme within the Faculty of Law.
•    Attend all formal and informal UFS meetings about teaching and learning, innovation, and digitalisation with the Vice-Dean (Learning & Teaching).
•    Chair the Teaching and Learning Committee of the Faculty.
•    Participate in committees at the Faculty and University level.
Inherent requirements:
•    Full-time permanent academic staff member of the Faculty of Law.
•    A Doctoral degree on NQF Level 10 within any related discipline of Law. 
 
Recommendations:
•    Experience in academic leadership or management.
•    Experience in the leadership of Teaching and Learning, such as curriculum development, design and renewal, and assessment.
•    A thorough understanding of the rules and policy, governance and regulatory frameworks within which academic programmes are offered within the Faculty of Law and the UFS.
•    A deep understanding of all UFS policies and rules related to T&L, evident in departmental policies developed and successful implementation.
•    An understanding of the HEQSF, SAQA, and DHET rules and requirements and the development of new qualifications.
•    Evidence of SoTL or Teaching Fellowship.
•    Knowledgeable about the functioning of committees at the Faculty and University level.
•    Analytical problem-solving skills with impeccable attention to detail.
•    Evidence of inter-faculty and inter-department collaborations.

Duties and responsibilities:
Leadership and Management

Technical Responsibilities                                                                         
•    Consolidate and optimise available database infrastructure.
•    Conceive analytics and business intelligence platform architecture for clients, including internal and third-party clients.
•    Design and implement ETL procedures for intake of data from both internal and outside sources; as well as ensure data is verified and quality is checked.
•    Design and implement ETL processes and data architecture to ensure proper functioning of analytics lad, as well as client’s or third-party’s reporting environments and dashboard.
•    Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders in ensuring data warehouse architecture development and utilisation.
•    Carry out monitoring, tuning, and database performance analysis.
•    Perform the design and extension of data marts, meta data, and data models.
•    Ensure that all the data architecture code are maintained in a version control system.
•    Design and implement database structures.
•    Create and maintain the databases and database objects such as the tables, tablespaces, synonyms, views, triggers, stored procedures, defaults, domains, and indexes.
•    Conduct extensive testing of the backup and recovery processes.
•    Recover databases within the service level agreement.
•    Articulate any data loss encountered.
•    Ensure the logging and recoverability of database updates since the last backup.
•    Take frequent backups – full and incremental as needed.
•    Ensure accurate and complete replication of applicable data during the available windows.
•    Detect collision to avoid loss of data.
•    Maintain and establishes work schedule.
•    Analyse, review, and write data applications and programs, based on customer needs and requirements.
•    Conduct analysis of customer needs and developing solutions to software challenges.
•    Assist with querying and extracting data from large databases.
•    Produce data reports from complex data sets.
•    Provide customer training in relation to new data-based software applications.
•    Maintain confidentiality of work related to data.
•    Liaise with business intelligence manager, and internal customers to design and develop reports and analytics capability.
•    Identify and resolve data issues through configuration of data cleansing and de-duplication software.
•    Manage the database aspects of the reporting and analytics platform(s) to ensure that reporting jobs are successfully run and analytics data aligns to timeliness / completeness requirements.
•    Liaise with database administrators to ensure that the data warehouse is tuned for optimal performance.
•    Liaise with business analysts and project managers to develop and refine reporting and analytics requirements.
•    Develop, Implement, Maintain and Test ESB integrations. This includes the data feeds and output based on the current technology stack.
Strategic Alignment                                                             
•    Participate in the Business Unit management meetings and strategic planning sessions to obtain a clear understanding of business requirements and strategic direction.
•    Ensure that the physical designs for the databases and its data structures align with UFS, IT strategies, UFS architecture frameworks and logical data mode.

Duties and responsibilities:
•    Facilitate English Academic Literacy and/or General English Language classes.
•    Plan contact sessions and educational material in consultation with the module coordinator.
•    Keep a time schedule and meet deadlines.
•    Assess and mark subject content (in close collaboration with the module coordinator)
•    Offer consultation sessions in the Write Site (where applicable).
•    Ensure proper written and oral communication with students.
•    Maintain sensitivity towards students who experience problems.
•    Maintain appropriate discipline in classroom sessions to facilitate teaching and learning.
•    Be available for online consultation after contact sessions (where applicable).
•    Contribute to the finalisation and improvement of study guides (where applicable).
•    Assist with research projects in the ALLD (where applicable).
•    Keep student records in terms of marks and attendance.
•    Execute formal administrative and organisational tasks in relation to Academic Language and Literacy Development.
•    Moderate assessment and observe facilitators on the courses (if needed).
 
Inherent Job requirements:
•    A Bachelor’s Degree/ Advance Diploma/ B Tech Degree/ Postgraduate Certificate, or any other relevant degree on NQF level 7.
•    A good academic record.
 
Recommendations:
•    English at third-year level OR appropriate qualification, e.g., TEFL/ CELTA/ TESOL
•    Appropriate post-graduate qualification
•    Teaching experience on an English literacy programme
•    Teaching qualification
•    Teaching and/or facilitation and/or tutoring and/or teaching assistant experience.
