RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To manage, supervise, prepare, and assist with audio-visual equipment and related aids, logistical support of events, conferences, as well as maintenance of all facilities, equipment, and venues under the department's control and coordination of all discussions;
- To provide support service to the Manager (Coordinator): Conference Centre in terms of operational activities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Relevant National 3-Year Diploma: A Diploma in Events Management, Facilities Management, or Engineering with at least 3 years of proven experience, OR Grade 12 Qualification with a minimum of 5 years of proven experience.
- Minimum Proven experience:
- Facilities Management;
- Events Management;
- Modern Audiovisual Technology;
- Client engagement at all levels;
- Administrative Experience;
- Management Experience.
- Valid Driver’s License
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
- Knowledge of Expo and Exhibition Setup;
- Knowledge of Project Management (Event Planning);
- Knowledge of Safety and First Aid;
- Knowledge of Facilities Management;

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent is expected to perform the following duties. Please note that the below provides a high-level overview and may not include all related functions that may be required:
- Working closely with the core project team to engage district and sub-district stakeholders, selecting sites, and participating in preliminary planning and preparation for implementation at the district and sub-district level;
- Working closely with the local sub-district manager and facility staff to plan and prepare for implementation at the facility level;
- Conducting facility baseline assessments and staff skills assessments;
- Through a process of joint planning and problem-solving with onsite teams, facilitating operational changes that support efficient service delivery and high-quality clinical care;
- Training and mentoring professional nurses and other facility staff on clinical topics relevant to the project, including vertical transmission prevention, PrEP, ART, VL monitoring and management, family planning, management of the HIV-exposed infant and other elements of an integrated package of care for the mother-infant pair (MIP).
- Conducting quality assurance and quality improvement activities;
- Supporting accurate record-keeping and data management;
- Ensuring that patient and data confidentiality are maintained at all times;
- Generating reports at intervals as requested by the research team;
- Collaborating with team members to understand and address evolving issues;
- Attending weekly or bi-weekly meetings with the research team;
- Being the point person at a facility level, at any clinical or service delivery-related queries and reporting of problems.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- 3-year nursing degree;
- 10 years’ work experience as a professional (registered) nurse providing front-line nursing services;
- 10 years’ work experience as a HIV/AIDS/STI/TB (HAST)/Vertical Transmission Prevention (VTP)/Maternal/Neonatal/Child/Women’s Health (MNCWH) sub-district coordinator/programme manager in the public sector;
- 1-year managerial experience, providing quality comprehensive supervision for patient-centred service delivery and integrated care;
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council;
- Driver’s License.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
- In-depth knowledge of the functioning of health facilities, including the dynamics between role-players of different cadres and community-based services;
- Clinical knowledge in the fields of HIV Prevention, MNCWH, VTP and HIV Treatment;
- Facilitation of clinical training;
- Change management principles;
- Quality improvement principles;
- Report Writing skills;
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite;
- Proficiency in various Cloud Storage Platforms;
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse team;
- Excellent communication and change management skills;
- Problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude;
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

- Lecturing and mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate students;
- Supervising postgraduate students at master’s level;
- Collaborating with scientists working on vector aspects of mosquito-borne diseases, with a primary focus on malaria vectors;
- Preparing and submitting funding proposals;
- Representing the University of Pretoria Institute for Sustainable Malaria Control (UP ISMC) on malaria vector aspects at national and international symposia and congresses, and national bodies or committees;
- Managing of the UP ISMC’s Insectaries and product testing enterprise.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s in Zoology or relevant field;
- Minimum 2 accredited publications (ideally more, preferably in last 3 years and in ISI journals -some first author
- Experience in the field of mosquito vector surveillance and habitat identification;
- Some malaria knowledge and understanding;
- Field work experience;
- Experience with obtaining and managing funding;
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
- Vector control techniques;
- Collecting of specimens;
- Knowledge of local vector species;
- Good computational skills (Office, Excel)
- Good interpersonal and mentoring skills;

- Registration with the South African Veterinary Council as a veterinary nurse; and
- One years’ experience in veterinary nursing in a small or mixed animal practice.

- Proficient knowledge of general Anatomy and Physiology;
- Proficient knowledge of general veterinary nursing techniques;

- Identify and manage service improvement opportunities. Ensure continuous service improvement is embedded in the culture and working practices of the ITS Helpdesk;
- Identify and manage the ITS Helpdesk services and subordinate processes, including request fulfilment, access management, event management, incident management and problem management. Ensure all service management process are documented, maintained and adhered to;
- Manage and maintain the access rights to systems and information where these have been delegated to the ITS Helpdesk;
- Coordinate the activities of third-party service providers and suppliers. Monitor their performance against their SLAs and help resolve underlying problems;
- Identify and manage the interests of, and relationships with, internal and external stakeholders in the Service Desk environment to ensure their on-going commitment. Agree and publish the Service Desk objectives with these stakeholders and report on performance in respect of those objectives;
- Collaboration:
- Be an ambassador for ITS, working across the University to provide communication on ITS matters and build relationships with other teams to ensure dialogue between departments;
- Build and maintain strong and productive relationship with internal and external ITS stakeholders;
- Communicate to senior ITS management about discrepancies on any IT services offered and the end user requirements;
- Have oversight on end-user advise services;
- Prepare, document, update and regularly test ITS Helpdesk continuity plans with the relevant ITS stakeholders and ensure coordination with overall Business Continuity plan;
- People management:
- Manage Service Desk agents in delivering a speedy and efficient service to end users;

The Onderstepoort Veterinary Academic Hospital seeks a veterinary nurse to join our veterinary team, specifically as a Unit Coordinator in the Large Animal Section (Equine, Production Animal and Wildlife).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Co-ordinating the optimum functioning of the Large Animal Section;
- Rendering outstanding client service;
- Performing veterinary nursing duties;
- Ensuring efficient clinic management (record keeping, hygiene, stock control, care of equipment, safety measures etc.);
- Playing a leading role in the roll-out of the new patient management information system and related information technology matters;
- Supervising support staff, evaluating staff performance and arranging continued training and education;
- Ensuring open communication within the section and between the sections and the Hospital Manager;
- Managing expenditure control and submit inputs towards the capital equipment budget;
- Assisting with cost estimates for procedures;
- Communicating with patient owners;
- Taking responsibility for and overseeing maintenance of all veterinary and general equipment used in the service area;
- Reporting all facilities-related damages and shortcomings and check that maintenance is done satisfactory;
- Ensuring that clinic hygiene and biosecurity is of the highest standard;
- Assisting with continuous informal training of students and student nurses;
- Performing relief duties in other sections in the OVAH; and
- Performing shift duties.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Diploma in Veterinary Nursing (DipCurAnim or Dip Vet Nursing) or Degree in Vet Nursing
- Registered as veterinary nurse with the South African Veterinary Council; and
- Four years’ experience in veterinary nursing.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
- Knowledge of large animal nursing procedures, biosecurity measures and procedures and handling of all types of large animals;
- Meticulous about detail, professional and a responsible person;
- Appropriate language and communication skills;

- Ability to work under pressure and without supervision;
- Computer literacy; and
- Ability to work weekends and outside normal working hours when required for continuous service delivery in the hospital.

- Previous and/or current experience of one year or more in a high-pressure emergency clinic environment where patients are triaged and multiple emergency procedures take place simultaneously, will be an advantage.
