MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- M Ed in Early Childhood Education / Foundation Phase/ Learner Support, or equivalent degree;
- Undergraduate qualifications in Foundation Phase Sepedi Home Language Literacy Studies, or the equivalent
- One to three years of teaching experience in Early Childhood Education and/or Foundation Phase;
- Teaching experience and qualification in Foundation Phase Sepedi Home Language Literacy Studies or equivalent
- Evidence of some research experience
- Evidence of some experience in community projects.
- Evidence of some admin or managerial skills or leadership and commitment to ongoing professional development,
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
Knowledge of the following;
Development and Foundation Phase education;
- Knowledge and experience in Foundation Phase Sepedi Home Language or related African language
- Teaching methodologies in Foundation Phase Sepedi Home Language, or related African language.
- Experience in academic administration

- Knowledge and experience in integration of digital technology, especially coding and robotics, in Early Childhood Development programmes and Foundation Phase education;
- PhD in Early Childhood Education Foundation Phase, or current PhD registration in Early Childhood Education/Foundation Phase or equivalent degree;
- Experience of Teaching Practice or Work-Integrated Learning;
- Knowledge and experience of facilitation in an E-learning environment
- Knowledge of South African Education System and Policy Framework on Early Education
- Experience in the supervision of postgraduate students.

- Knowledge and experience in integration of digital technology, especially Coding and Robotics, in Early Childhood Development programmes and Foundation Phase education;
- PhD in Early Childhood Education Foundation Phase or equivalent degree; or
- Experience of teaching practice of work-integrated learning;
- Ability and/or some experience in conducting own research, and evidence of research publications;
- Experience in curriculum development initiatives;

- Support the Deputy Director: Employee Relations and Wellness in the implementation of the HR strategy and achievement of all Employee Relations targets;
- Provide specialist advice, guidance, support and representation with regards to Employment Relations and labour law compliance to Director: Human Resources;
- Provide specialist advise to Line Managers, UP employees, Unions and the HR team in the effective management of the employee relations procedures and processes, disciplinary procedures and grievance procedures;
- Advise Line Management, Human Resources Business Partner and staff in resolution of disputes;
- Advise Line Management and Human Resources Business Partners on initiating of disciplinary and alternative dispute resolution processes;
- Attend to disciplinary matters in terms of relevant documentation, legal advice obtained, communication, research and consultations with all effected parties, in accordance with agreed policies;
- Provide orientation sessions and workshops in Employee Relations processes and procedures through scheduled or mandatory training workshops for Human Resources Business Partners, Line Managers and Shop Stewards;
- Provide specialist advise, guidance, support and representation on policy and procedure development and maintenance;
- Prepare reports on an annual and monthly basis in respect to all employee relations targets and statutory requirements;
- Identify and define trends, barriers and impending risks with respect to employee relations issues;
- Represent the University on legal and Employee Relations matters;
- Prepare for proceedings through case law research and compiling bundles for the CCMA commissioners and union representatives;
- Assist with consultations with external legal advisors, trade union officials, Department of Labour, CCMA and Labour Law consultants;
- Represent the University in labour negotiations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- LLB Degree with a total 3 years’ relevant experience; or
- 3 years’ Human Resources related degree with 4 years’ relevant experience:
- Specialist ER or general legal experience;
- Exposure to a unionised environment;
- Exposure to collective bargaining.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES)

- Acquisition and subscription management of serials (print and electronic) on an Integrated Library Services Platform (OCLC WorldShare);
- Original and copy cataloguing of serials in print and electronic formats, as well as other collections, through the application and adherence to international cataloguing and descriptive metadata standards, i.e., RDA, AACR2, MARC21, ISSN, and Dublin Core;
- Classification and subject analysis;
- Maintenance of UP serials holdings on OCLC WorldShare, including identifying and correcting errors in serials records;
- Liaising with publishers and vendors for effective communication and resolution of issues related to serial subscriptions;
- Professional guidance to and liaison with information specialists and other stakeholders on matters related to serials;
- Participating in Library strategic projects.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- A four-year library degree e.g. Bachelor of Library and Information Science degree (B.Bibl.) or Bachelor of Information Science (BIS) plus Postgraduate Diploma in Library Information Science/Studies (PG Dip. LIS) or Bachelor of Information Honors (B. Inf (Hons)); which must include a course/module in Cataloguing;
- Three (3) years of relevant experience in the cataloguing of serials (print and electronic) in an academic environment; Knowledge and experience in the application of international cataloguing and descriptive metadata standards, i.e. RDA, AACR2, DDC, LCSH, MARC21 and Dublin Core; Knowledge and experience in the use of OCLC WorldCat or WorldShare database.
- A three-year library degree (e.g. Bachelor of Information Science (BIS));
- Four (4) years of relevant experience in the cataloguing of serials (print and electronic) in an academic environment; Knowledge and experience in the application of international cataloguing and descriptive metadata standards, i.e. RDA, AACR2, DDC, LCSH, MARC21 & Dublin Core; Knowledge and experience in the use of OCLC WorldCat or WorldShare database.

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
- Knowledge of Library Technical Services work processes, environment, and industry, especially in the management of serials;
- Knowledge of current library trends and developments;
- Experience in the use and impact of technology on the information environment.

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
