RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will be responsible for:
  • Managing and reporting quality management systems of all specialist units that work directly with library service provision to all faculties, all students, researchers, and staff;
  • Applying measures and innovative strategies for the audit of quality management systems, processes, and products;
  • Developing and implementing quality assurance policies and procedures to ensure product and service quality meets library standards;
  • Providing strategic leadership and management of business intelligence measures;
  • Providing business data analytics and insights;
  • Presenting data/information positively, clearly, and accurately;
  • Aligning the library’s marketing initiatives to the work done in the Department of Library Services; and ensure the use of appropriate channels;
  • Overseeing processes related to user engagements, user experiences, and the administration of institution-wide surveys;
  • Overseeing the development and implementation of a comprehensive marketing plan for the DLS;
  • Providing oversight for the design, and language editing of publications, posters, brochures, and other marketing materials for the DLS, ensuring high standards and consistent branding;
  • Providing the required leadership and oversight on fundraising activities in collaboration with the Department of Institutional Advancement (DIA) on fundraising projects.
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • A four-year B degree in Library and Information Science or an equivalent relevant qualification;
  • Relevant Honours;
  • A total of six years’ of experience in an academic or research library of which two years’ must be in a supervisory/management role.
 
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
  • Knowledge of user experience principles;
  • Proven experience in business intelligence, working with usage statistics;
  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in library marketing and quality assurance;
  • Quality Assurance standards and methodologies for quality assurance in library services and knowledge of assessment tools and techniques to evaluate library services and user satisfaction;
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills;
  • Presentation skills;
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools;
  • Data Analysis: Ability to analyse data and metrics;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong skills in MS Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Institutional knowledge.
 
ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
  • Master’s degree in Library and Information Science or relevant discipline;
  • Experience in building automated performance trackers and dashboards;
  • Experience in writing funding or grant proposals.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
LECTURER:
  • MBChB and a relevant Masters degree in Sports Medicine or MMed degree;
  • Teaching/tutoring experience at tertiary level;
  • 1 DHET publication in accredited journals;
  • Registration with the HPCSA.
 
SENIOR LECTURER:
  • MBChB and a relevant Masters degree in Sports Medicine or MMed degree;
  • 3 years teaching experience;
  • At least 3 publications in accredited journals (Ideally more, preferably in last 3 years and in ISI journals);
  • 2 Master’s students supervised;
  • Conference papers delivered;
  • Course/block coordinator or an equivalent;
  • Curriculum development/innovation;
  • Evidence of community engagement;
  • Registration with the HPCSA.

  • Registration as a specialist Veterinary Clinical Pathologist with the SAVC, or eligibility for registration within a reasonable period;
  • At least two full research papers of which one can be a case report in an accredited scientific journal as senior author; and
  • Four years veterinary experience with three years’ experience in predominantly Clinical Pathology.
OR
  • A BVSc or BVMCh degree or equivalent professional veterinary qualification;
  • MSc degree with particular focus on clinical pathology or equivalent;
  • Registration/authorisation with the SAVC as a Veterinarian;
  • Five or more research-based full papers in an accredited scientific journal as senior author and/or co-author in the last five years. The research should be focused towards a particular subject area (e.g. specific disease or aspect of laboratory diagnostics) and not be broad; and
  • Four years veterinary experience with three years’ experience in predominantly Clinical Pathology.
 
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
  • Proven knowledge and competence in veterinary clinical pathology;
  • Research interest appropriate to the position;

The Department seeks an experienced veterinarian to join a team that focuses on reproduction and welfare of domestic and wildlife species, community and environmental health. This person will focus on the teaching, clinical service and research in fields related to veterinary reproduction.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will actively participate in the following areas:
  • Teaching and practical training of undergraduate and postgraduate veterinary and veterinary nursing students in reproductive health in the different species;
  • Clinical service in the Onderstepoort Veterinary Academic Hospital including participation in a 24-hour service;
  • Postgraduate training and supervision where appropriate;
  • Research and publication in scientific journals;

JOB PURPOSE:

RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Planning, organising, co-ordination of the year’s activities, allocation of duties and staff planning in the section;
  • Providing leadership to staff to meet objectives and requirements and manage performance of staff members;
  • Attend meetings i.e. Faculty Board meetings, coordinators meetings, admission forum meetings etc. open days, school visits;
  • Co-ordinate and monitor applications, exclusions, appeals and admission processes of assigned staff in the division (undergraduate, postgraduate and international students);
  • Quality control and training on all processes in student administration;
  • Liaison with a broad spectrum of stakeholders (diplomats, prospective students, registered students and other stakeholders); and
  • Deliver an exceptional and client friendly service to students and all stakeholders involved in the student administrative processes at the University of Pretoria.
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 
  • An appropriate and relevant Bachelors or B-Tech degree qualification; 
  • At least 4 years’ experience in a tertiary environment related in Administration which includes one year supervisory experience:
    • Specific experience with all processes in Student Administration from applications of undergraduate and postgraduate students, admissions, registration, programme advertisement, degree audits and graduation ceremonies; and
  • A driver’s license.
 
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES): 
  • Applicable professional communication and language skills, both written and verbal;
  • Interpersonal and conflict management skills;
  • Decision making and prioritising abilities;

  • Minimum 3 accredited publications (preferably with at least in last 3 years and in ISI journals )
  • At least 2 postgraduate students supervised (completed), preferably Masters level or higher;
  • Three years’ teaching experience;
  • Conference papers delivered.
 
Associate Professor:
  • A relevant doctorate degree;
  • 12 accredited publications, (at least some recent and at least 50% in ISI journals);
  • Evidence of Master’s & PhD supervised (at least 3 Masters completed and evidence of current doctoral supervision);
  • Five years’ teaching experience.
