RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will be responsible for:
- Organising, developing and presenting practicals in genetics at undergraduate level in collaboration with the academic personnel;
- The academic administration and logistical coordination of undergraduate modules; including marking of assignments, tests and examinations and administration of the marks, as well as liaising with the registered students.
- Coordinating activities of the assigned tutors/demonstrators;
- Research support by assisting with financial and research administration;
- Actively contributing to the smooth day-to-day running of the Division of Genetics (and the Dept of BGM) by inter alia overseeing the general maintenance of facilities and equipment.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Honours degree with specialisation in Genetics (NQF level 8) or a closely related field;
- At least five (5) years of relevant experience in academic administration of undergraduate modules, as well as in developing and presenting practicals/tutorials at tertiary level;
- At least five (5) years of relevant experience in a research environment.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and good interpersonal skills, along with a student-centred mindset;
- Advanced subject-specific knowledge in genetics and molecular biology;
- Experience with the Blackboard eLearning Platform and the development of audio-visual learning materials;
- Experience in research administration, including laboratory management, basic accounting, experience in liaising with representatives of reagent and equipment supply companies, as well as good laboratory practices;
- Reliable, responsible, able to function efficiently under pressure, and work independently and in a team, while maintaining high levels of professionalism, discretion and confidentiality.
ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
- MSc with specialisation in Genetics (NQF level 9) or a closely related field;
- Experience with PeopleSoft’s Human Capital Management System, Student Services Centre, and the Financial and Enterprise Request Systems.

The incumbent will be expected to fulfil the duties of a Lecturer in the Department of Early Childhood Education as described in the minimum requirements. These duties include:
- Curriculum development and lecturing of modules in the programme(s) based in the Department;
- Pursuing research activities such as own research, research-based publications and the supervision of postgraduate students registered in the Department;
- Developing, presenting and co-ordinating undergraduate and postgraduate courses for pre-service and in-service teachers and other students for contact and distance programmes;

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Lecturer:
- M Ed in Early Childhood Education / Foundation Phase/ Learner Support, or equivalent degree;
- One to three years of teaching experience in the Foundation Phase;
- One to three years of teaching experience at a Higher Education Institution in Early Childhood Education (Foundation Phase);
- Evidence of some research experience;
- Evidence of school-based or related tertiary-level experience;
- Evidence of some experience in community projects;
- Evidence of some admin or managerial skills or leadership and commitment to ongoing professional development.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
- Knowledge and experience of teaching life skills, handwriting and learning support in the foundation phase;

- Participating actively in teaching core modules offered by the school;
- Providing dedicated supervision for MPH, MSc, and PhD students within the School of Health Systems and Public Health (SHSPH);
- Fostering a culture of academic excellence, innovation, and rigorous scholarly inquiry;
- Strengthening the school’s research portfolio in Health Promotion and Public Health Nutrition/ Sexual and Reproductive Health;
- Engaging in collaborative research initiatives within the faculty and across the University, as well as with local and international public health scientists;
- Securing research grants/funding to support research and postgraduate students;
- Enhancing the teaching of both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes;
- Providing strategic, academic, and operational leadership within the SHSPH;
- Playing an active role as an academic leader in the areas of Health Promotion, Public health Nutrition/ Sexual and Reproductive Health and Qualitative Research Methodology;
- Developing and nurturing partnerships with local and international public health experts and institutions to advance research, teaching, and community engagement.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Lecturer:
- Master’s in Public Health or relevant field;
- Minimum 2 accredited publications (ideally more, preferably in last 3 years and in ISI journals - some first author);
- One year teaching experience.
Senior Lecturer:
- PhD in Public Health or relevant field;
- Minimum 5 accredited publications (ideally more, preferably in last 3 years and in ISI journals - some first author);
- Conference papers delivered;
- At least 2 postgraduate students supervised (completed) (preferably Masters level or higher);
- At least 3 years’ teaching experience;
- Course/block coordinator or equivalent;
- Some curriculum development/innovation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinating the optimum functioning of the Diagnostic Imaging Section;
- Rendering outstanding client service;
- Ensuring efficient clinic management (record keeping, hygiene, stock control, care of equipment, safety measures and maintenance contracts etc.);
- Playing a leading role in the information systems and related information technology matters;
- Supervising and managing support staff, evaluating staff performance and arranging continued training and education;
- Ensuring open communication within the section and between the sections and the Hospital Manager;
- Managing expenditure control and submit inputs towards the capital equipment budget;
- Assisting with cost estimates for procedures;
- Communicating with patient owners;
- Taking responsibility for and overseeing maintenance of all veterinary, general and specialised diagnostic imaging equipment used in the service area;
- Reporting all facilities-related damages and shortcomings and check that maintenance is done satisfactory;
- Ensuring radiation safety protocols are up to date and adhere to;
- Ensuring that clinic hygiene and biosecurity is of the highest standard;
- Assisting with continuous informal training of students and student nurses;
- Performing relief duties in other sections in the OVAH; and
- Performing shift duties.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Diploma in Veterinary Nursing (DipCurAnim or Dip Vet Nursing) or Degree in Vet Nursing
- Registered as veterinary nurse with the South African Veterinary Council; and
- Four years’ experience in veterinary nursing.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
- Knowledge of diagnostic imaging procedures (including all modalities);
- Biosecurity measures and procedures and handling of all types of small animals;
- Meticulous about detail, professional and a responsible person;
- Appropriate language and communication skills;

- Ability to work under pressure and without supervision;
- Computer literacy; and

- Established nationally as a scholar and researcher.
- A relevant doctoral degree;
- At least 8 years’ tertiary teaching experience;
- Experience in curriculum development and curriculum innovation;
- At least 20 – 30 publications in a variety of accredited journals of which at least 8 of the publications should be ISI and other accredited journals;
- Evidence of successful research Master’s supervision (at least 10 successfully completed) and evidence of at least 4 successful doctoral supervisions;

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The incumbent will be responsible for the strategic management of all aspects of student administration in the Faculty;
- These will include but not be restricted to:
- Ensuring that all administrative matters affecting and influencing the students’ studies of this faculty at the University of Pretoria are effectively and efficiently managed;
- Planning and organization of orientation of new students (undergraduate and postgraduate);
- Managing all processes within student administration (undergraduate and postgraduate) e.g. (but not limited to) applications, selection, registration, examination, results and graduation ceremonies;
- Ensuring that UP’s reputation is constantly improved through excellent and innovative client service interactions, relating to all student administrative processes, including time tables, financial aid, accommodation placement, front line functions and publications;
- Secretary of the faculty board meetings;
- Member of the applicable faculty committees;
- Compiling the yearbook;
- Managing and coordinating meetings related to student administration including activities of the Faculty’s Teaching and Learning and the Post-graduate committees;
- Implementing Teaching and Learning Committee, and other management committees’ decisions; and
- Strategic management of the Division’s human resources, stakeholder management and budget control.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- A Three-year relevant Bachelor’s degree;
- At least five (5) years’ experience in student administration of which three years should be at management/supervisory level in academic/student administration;
- Proven managerial or supervisory experience in academic/student administration;
- Proven advanced knowledge of all student administration processes and procedures;
- Proven experience in the managing formal meetings;
- Experience in all aspects and processes of student administration of undergraduate and postgraduate students, form applications to graduation (life cycle of students);
- Experience in all aspects and processes of student support services, that includes: Bursary and Financial allocations, Student Accounts, General Financial and Budgeting Management, access cards, residence placements and general enquiries;
- Experience of project management;
- Experience in the use of relevant Student Administration systems; and
- A valid driver’s license.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Responsible for the administration of all activities with regard to undergraduate applications, student administration, student records and examinations;
- Process undergraduate applications.
- Review external and internal university results.
- Advising applicants regarding the selection process
- Assist with orientation and registration of undergraduate students;
- Prepare and attending examination moderating meetings,
- Post exam marks, identifying finalists,
- Capturing fixing curriculums, prerequisites and class;
- Assist during graduation ceremonies;
- Assisting with school/career/open/ChooseUp days;
- Assist with walk in student enquiries, email and telephonic enquiries;
- Assist with enquiries and other aspects of student administration;
- Perform ad hoc tasks in Student Administration as determined by the line-manager and Head of Student Administration.
- Offer support and assistance to colleagues within the Division.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- A relevant three-year National Diploma
- Two years’ experience in student administration, applications and admission in an institution of high education.
- Grade 12 with four years’ experience in student administrative, application and admissions in an institution of high education.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
- Knowledge of Universities South Africa (USAF), South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA), HPCSA, SANC professional bodies requirements.
- Knowledge and experience working with of non NSC school leaving qualifications
- Excellent use of computer and electronic data broad knowledge and experience in using MS Word, Excel, Gmail and the internet;
- Strong interpersonal skills, organised and a keen commitment to excellence;
- The ability to liaise and communicate effectively on all levels within the organisation and with clients from diverse backgrounds and cultures;
- Ability to work independently and participate effectively within a team;
- Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to maintain high level of discretion and confidentiality;
- Appropriate language and communication skills (both verbal and written);
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
- PeopleSoft experience in Student Administration (Undergraduate Division);
- Bachelor’s degree

The total remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
