RESPONSIBILITIES:
It will be expected of the successful candidate to:
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in the Department;
- Supervise final-year undergraduate project students and postgraduate Honours, Masters and PhD students;
- Conduct research as a member of a research group in the Department and publish in leading accredited journals;
- Raise and manage additional funding from national and international funding agencies and industry to support the activities of the relevant research group;
- Expand existing research programmes or initiate new research programmes;
- Perform assigned departmental duties (e.g., Assigned Portfolio in the Department).
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Lecturer:
- A BEng degree from a university of which the undergraduate programme is recognised by the Washington Accord or is recognised by ECSA to be equivalent;
- A Masters’ degree in Engineering that follows on the previous qualification;
- One post specialising in HYDROMETALLURGY and the other post specialising in PHYSICAL METALLURGY
- Teaching or industry-related experience
- 1 Publication (peer-reviewed article or peer-reviewed conference paper) or
- Book chapter(s), recognized article outputs or industry-recognized outputs in a commensurate field.
ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
- Evidence of teaching excellence and/or supervision of undergraduate and/or postgraduate students;
- Preference will be given to candidates who have teaching and research expertise that complement the Department’s needs;
- Preference will be given to candidates who have post-doctoral research experience and/or international research exposure. Evidence of potential for international collaboration will be an advantage;
- Related industry work or consulting experience;
- Candidates registered or registerable as Professional Engineer with ECSA;
- NRF rating or have applied for one.

- Lead the implementation of the University’s integrated performance and talent management strategy;

- Contribute to the cultivation of a high-performance organisational culture through effective talent management and retention initiatives;
- Provide strategic reports to Executive Management on matters related to performance and talent management; and
- Conduct institutional audits on performance and talent management and reporting to management structures.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Honour's degree in Human Resource Management or a related field;
- A minimum of five years' experience in Human Resources, including at least three years in a specialist role focused on Performance Management; and
- Proven experience in the development and implementation of Performance and Talent Management policies and strategies.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

- Develop and implement the learning and development strategy aligned to institution’s overall strategic objectives;
- Identify current and future learning needs across the institution through consultation with leadership, workforce analysis, and evaluation of performance trends;
- Design and execute a comprehensive communication strategy to promote awareness and participation in learning and development programmes;
- Develop an integrated learning and development plan that aligns with legislative requirements, ensuring compliance with the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE), Employment Equity (EE), and Skills Development frameworks;
- Design and develop customised outcome-based learning programmes using e-learning and blended learning methodologies;
- Oversee the execution of skills audits, training needs analysis, and skills development planning processes;
- Manage the staff bursary process, including allocation of funding and compliance monitoring;
- Implementation of skills programmes such as internships, learnerships and Adult Education Training;
- Develop and manage the L&D division’s budget in alignment with institutional financial planning;
- Oversee the submission of Workplace Skills Plans (WSPs) and Annual Training Reports (ATRs) to relevant SETA and proactively solicit discretionary grants and funding as an additional revenue stream for staff development;
- Lead the end-to-end implementation of academic talent development programmes in collaboration with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), including: New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP), Nurturing Emerging Scholars Programme (NESP) and Future Professors Programme;
- Drive compliance with and achievement of Service Level Agreements targets with all internal and external stakeholders;
- Manage relevant committees within the Learning and Development ecosystem to ensure coordinated governance and execution;
- Plan, forecast, allocate, and manage human and financial resources within the L&D division to meet divisional and institutional goals;
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment of L&D priorities and interventions;
- Engage with external stakeholders such as SETAs, training providers, regulators, and academic institutions to strengthen partnerships and ensure compliance;
- Manage vendor contracts and service-level agreements to ensure delivery of quality learning and development services;
- Monitor and evaluate the return on investment and cost-effectiveness of learning interventions;
- Provide regular and ad hoc reports on learning outcomes, skills development initiatives, compliance metrics, and impact assessments; and
- Champion and embed a learning culture throughout the institution that supports continuous professional growth and organisational performance.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Honour’s degree in Human Resource Development, Human Resource Management, Industrial Psychology or a related field;
- Minimum of six (6) years’ experience in Learning and Development;
- Demonstrated experience leading high-performing L&D teams, coordinating and facilitating L&D of educational requirements;
- Experience managing learning projects end-to-end, including scoping, budgeting, and reporting;
- Two (2) years’ experiences in Senior management; and
- Three (3) years’ experience in higher education environment.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
- Advanced knowledge of relevant legislation and Higher Education Policy;

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To provide administrative, operational and advisory support on matters related to remuneration and benefits; assist with the implementation and processing of all Remuneration and Benefits policies and procedures in order to ensure excellent customer service and, alignment of the objectives of the HR function with those of the University.
The incumbent will be responsible to:
- Provide input with the design and implementation of UP remuneration and benefit programs to meet its objectives for internal equity and external market competitiveness;
- Provide support into the salary review process with regards to market research and benchmarking, analysis on trends, and the facilitation of information;
- Respond to inquiries by staff members and colleagues and Retirements fund with regard to:

- Provide accurate information to medical aid funds regarding council contributions;
- Adjust pension contributions as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- B. Com Degree or B.Tech degree with Financial Management or related field;
- A total of Four (4) years (of which 3 complete years must be in the remuneration field); of the following:

JOB PURPOSE:
This post is related to professional psychology internship training. The incumbent will be responsible for rendering counselling psychology services to students/young adults to promote academic success and emotional wellness. This will include psychotherapeutic services and the development and identification of preventative and self-help programmes for the purposes of the promotion of well-being, and to enhance the academic success of students/young adults. The incumbent will have to comply with the requirements of the HPCSA in the above regards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will actively participate in the following areas:
- Psychotherapeutic counselling services to students/young adults, to promote academic success and emotional wellness:
- Rendering counselling services (individually and group work), and present programmes to enhance student emotional wellness;
- Providing therapeutic services to children, adolescents and other client profiles at other campuses and sites, as part of training requirements;
- Consultation with Head: Student Counselling, internship supervisors, and colleagues;
- Development of preventative and self-help, academic and therapeutic programmes in view of the identified needs of students:
- Developing new programmes according to the identified needs;
- Co-operating and receiving feedback from internal role players according to applicable data and research;
- Career testing and academic support services and programmes:
- Developing and delivering academic support services and programmes;
- Providing feedback to students and parents after testing/counselling;
- Consulting with academic personnel, relevant internal and external role players, and students, to determine needs, problems and possibilities for programmes and other relevant interventions;
- Research:
- Contributing to research to support the department in developing tailor-made programmes in line with the academic and emotional needs of the student population at the University of Pretoria;
- Professional development;
- Enhancing personal level of knowledge by way of studying applicable literature and research to ensure continuous learning and training;
- Participating in case presentation for the purpose of evaluation by supervisors and/or other professionals;
- Undergoing mandatory weekly supervision;
- Participation in institutional activities:
- Participating as a team member within the Student Counselling Unit in all its activities and its networks within the University.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven registration as a MA student in Counselling Psychology at an accredited university;
- Completed course work as part of the first year MA/MSc Counselling Psychology training programme at an accredited university;
- Registration as student/intern with HPCSA;
- Compliance in the above with the HPCSA regulations;
- Successful completion of practical work as part of first year MA/MSc Counselling Psychology training.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
- Knowledge of the following:
- Psychological interventions at a professional level;
- Short term and brief therapy techniques;
- A range of psychometric assessments;
- The Code of Ethics and Conduct for Psychologists (HPCSA);
- Ability to diagnose psychological problems and psychopathology within the scope of practice for Counselling psychologists;
- Flexibility as the service demands require;
- Good interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team;
- Efficient planning, organising and prioritising skills;
- Ability to work under pressure and manage crisis interventions;
- Professionalism, confidentiality and sensitivity towards the diversity of students;
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal);
- Computer skills in MS Word, PowerPoint and e-mail;
- Ethical insight and reliability.

- Practical experience within a mental health clinic environment;
- Experience with psychological assessments and psychometric tests;

- Registration with the Professional Board for Psychology of the HPCSA as an intern Psychologist, prior to or simultaneous to, taking up the position.
The total remuneration package for this training position is R126,000.00 per annum as determined by UP policy guidelines.
