​Job Title Director: Academic Planning and Quality Assurance (P5)
Organisational Unit University of Mpumalanga -> Teaching and Learning -> Academic Planning & Quality Assurance
 
Job Primary Purpose
The purpose of the Academic Planning and Quality Assurance Director is to facilitate internal and external quality assurance processes and manage academic planning activities.
 
Key Performance Areas:
  1. Provide strategic oversight of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance Division.
  2. Monitor the coordination and development of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance policies, processes and procedures.
  3. Lead strategic academic planning in relation to the development of new qualifications and size and shape of the university.
  4. Managing and monitoring compliance on all submission to national regulatory bodies, namely; CHE, DHET and SAQA.
  5. Write executive reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  6. Monitor and provide compliance reports with external policies.
  7. Ensure overall quality assurance in relation to teaching and learning.
  8. Management and monitoring of all APQA external and internal reviews.
  9. Support and capacity development of staff in ass APQA related activities.
 
Minimum Requirements:
  1. Relevant Master’s degree.
  2. PhD will be an added advantage.
  3. At least 10 years of experience in academic planning and quality assurance in an academic institution with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  4. Where focus of experience is on one of academic planning or quality assurance, the applicant will have expertise in academic planning and quality assurance and sufficient experience of the other.
  5. Extensive knowledge of the South African Higher Education Sector specifically in the areas of academic planning and quality assurance.
  6. Considerable relevant experience working with professional bodies, the DHET, CHE and SAQA.

  2. A sound understanding of Higher Education and its roles in South Africa.
