DEPARTMENT OF MERCANTILE AND LABOUR LAW 
LECTURER: (nGAP) 
 
Requirements:
  1. Master of Laws degree (LLM), with average of 70%. 
  2. The applicant must be a South African citizen. 
  3. The applicant must be below 40 years of age. 
  4. At least one (1) year of teaching experience in the legal field at a tertiary institution, e.g. as a Tutor or junior lecturer or recognized mentor
  5. A certified assessor and/or moderator in higher education. 
  6. Interest and focus in commercial law subjects will be a priority. 
  7. Evidence of research output will be an added advantage. 
 
Competencies
  1. Ability to deliver lectures, and to a diverse, multi-racial audience. 
  2. Prepare, conduct and review assessments, and provide effective feedback. 
  3. Demonstrable interest in research, teaching and learning. 
  4. Ability to conduct teaching and learning and function excellently on the institution’s multi-modal platforms. 
  5. Ability to adapt to new models of teaching and learning, in a globalized and dynamic higher education sector. 
  6. Must be computer literate and have greater interest in modern trends of conducting teaching and learning, and assessments online. 
 
Duties:
The incumbent will be required to: 
  1. Assume duty as a permanent academic staff, subject to applicable probationary rules, regulations, and policy. 
  2. Conduct law lectures and teach LLB modules in the School of Law. 
  3. Prepare, conduct and review assessments, and provide effective feedback to students. 
  4. Provide supervision of research works of LLB and LLM students. 
  5. Attend and participate in training workshops concerning assessment, moderation, teaching and learning, legal pedagogy, research and community engagement. 
  6. Present papers at conferences. 
  7. Publish articles in accredited peer-reviewed journals. 
  8. Contribute chapters in books. 
  9. Contribute papers in conference proceedings. 
  10. Participate in and perform designated community engagement duties, as well as branding and marketing of the department. 
  11. Participate in specific administrative and managerial duties as may be necessary, and per directive of the Head of Department and Management. 
  12. Register for a doctoral qualification (LLD or PhD in law).

DEPARTMENT OF NURSING 
LECTURER (nGAP) 
 
Requirements:
  1. Forty (<40years) old as determined by nGap 
  2. Show interest in becoming an academic 
  3. Show eligibility to undertake postgraduate studies at PhD level 
  4. Be a South African citizen 
 
Nursing Science eligibility: 
  1. Master of Nursing Degree (70% minimum pass
  2. Current registration as a Nurse (General, Psychiatric and Community) and Midwifery with South African Nursing Council (SANC) 
  3. Experience working in a Midwifery unit in an institution for a minimum of two (2) years 
  4. A minimum two (2) years teaching/clinical mentoring experience at a clinical facility or institution of higher education/nursing College will be an added advantage. 
  5. Computer literate. 
  6. Deadline driven, ability to multi-task, organise, plan and work under pressure. 
  7. Communication and problem solving skills 
 
Duties:
  1. Engage in own research study, publish and present results at national and international conferences. 
  2. Ready to be capacitated for six (6) years as an academic with regard to: 
  3. Online teaching, online assessment, and venue-based teaching as well as venue-based assessments of nursing students in theory and practice of Bachelor of Nursing (BNURS) R.174 programme. 
  4. Curriculum development of the Undergraduate Program 
  5. Designing of study materials and learner guides for nursing students. 
  6. Clinical accompaniment and mentoring of nursing students at the accredited clinical facilities for experiential and work-integrated learning. 
  7. Performing all administrative duties related to clinical teaching, learning, and community engagement, as delegated by Head of Department. 
  8. Record keeping as required by South African Nursing Council.

DEPARTMENT OF GEOGRAPHY AND ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES 
LECTURER: HUMAN GEOGRAPHY (nGAP) 
 
Qualification and requirements: 
  1. A Master’s (70% minimum) in Geography specializing in Human Geography evidence of an understanding of integrated geographical applications. 
  2. Preferably, the candidate should be less than 40 years. 
  3. As an added advantage, must at most have one (1) year teaching experience at a University or comparable Institution of high learning. 
  4. Evidence of the least one (1) publication in DHET- accredited journals 
  5. Evidence of both national or international conference attendance and presentation of papers. 
  6. Ability to supervise research projects at undergraduate and Honours level 
  7. Some experience of community engagement activities. 
  8. Commitment to undertake PhD studies soon after commencement of the position or evidence of enrolment for PhD studies. 
  9. Applications who have registered for a PhD will have an added advantage. 
 
Duties and Responsibilities: 
The successful candidate will be expected to: 
  1. Teach human geographical applications address environmental challenges. 
  2. Undertake individual research or in collaboration with colleagues within and outside the 
  3. Supervise research projects for undergraduate fourth level and honours students 
  4. Undertake and arrange community outreach activities as part of the University mandate. 
  5. Prepare and develop learning and assessment materials 
  6. Perform any other duties/responsibilities. Including but not limited to administrative duties that may be assigned by the Head of Department.

  2. Two (02) years of teaching experience at tertiary level. 
  3. Evidence of at least one (1) publication in DHET – accredited journals. 
  4. Evidence of both national or international conference attendance and presentation of papers. 
  5. Ability to supervise research projects at Honours level. 
  6. Some experience of community engagement activities. 
  7. Commitment to undertake PhD studies soon after commencement of the position of evidence of enrolment for PhD studies. 
  8. Knowledge of and experience in various mathematical packages; 
  9. Be a South African citizen. 
  10. Be 40 years of age or younger. 
 
Duties and Responsibilities: 
The successful candidate will be expected to: 
  1. Teach students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels 
  2. Conduct research in any of the branches of Mathematics 
  3. Supervise research projects for Honours students in Mathematics.
  4. Engage in community outreach programme 
  5. Perform any other duties/responsibilities, including, but not limited to administrative duties, that may be assigned by the Head of Department.

LECTURER IN HAEMATOLOGY (nGAP)

POST DESCRIPTION 
The nGAP position in Haematology is a DHET funded programme in which a candidate is identified to be in the programme. The programme intends to empower the candidate with teaching and learning skills, and research skills in the field of Haematology with the ultimate goal of absorbing the candidate in the University workforce. The programme runs for 6 years during which in the first four years the candidate should register for and complete a PhD programme. The remaining two years the candidate will be empowered with teaching, learning skills and multidisciplinary research skills. Upon completion of the programme the candidate may be absorbed by the training institution 
 
Minimum Requirements and competency profile for Doctoral position 
  1. M.Sc. in Haematology. 
  2. Master’s programme with a pass mark of 70%, 
  3. Aged less than 40 years, 
  4. Be a South African citizen, 
  5. Some experience in formal and informal teaching, formal research and computer literate. 
  6. Have basic data management skills, 
  7. Good written and oral communication skills and 
  8. Time management skills 
  9. The following attributes, professionalism, leadership and mentorship attributes and good ethical behaviour.
