A PhD in English Language with expertise in ESL teaching.

Duties for Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer:
Teaching and Learning: Full involvement in all courses, design and curriculum development, updating material i.r.o. national and international trends, evaluations of lectures, lecturers and course material, maintains discussion class programmes, identifies at risk students and facilitates additional assistance, undertakes discipline related research.
Research: Supervise honours, Masters and PhD students, manage involvement in research processes and oversees and participates in project teams working on research projects, participation in conferences, produce published articles/books/chapters in book (measurable research outputs in DHET accredited journals)
Academic citizenship: Involvement in community engagement, takes an active role in professional organisations.
Governance: Prepare course outlines and study guides, organise course files, deliver to deadlines, records of all academic activities, participate in departmental, school and faculty committees.

DEPUTY DIRECTOR: RESOURCE MOBILIZATION
(Five-Year Contract Appointment)
The University of Limpopo is committed to expanding its third-stream income base in order to support institutional growth, innovation, and financial sustainability. To this end, the University seeks to appoint a strategic and visionary leader to the newly established position of Deputy Director: Resource Mobilization. The incumbent will report directly to the Vice-Chancellor and Principal and will play a critical role in mobilising financial and in-kind resources to advance the University’s academic mission, research excellence, and community engagement priorities.
This executive role will be responsible for the strategic direction, planning, coordination, and implementation of the University’s fundraising, donor engagement, development campaigns, and institutional advancement initiatives. It will involve close collaboration with alumni, corporate partners, foundations, donors, and international stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements:
A master’s degree in Development studies, Public Administration, Higher Education Management, Business Administration, or a related field with strong financial and project management components.
A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in institutional advancement, fundraising, development, or resource mobilisation, preferably in a higher education or non-profit setting.
Proven track record of successful design, implementation, and management of donor strategies, campaigns, or large-scale fundraising initiatives, including major gift acquisition.
Demonstrated experience in managing relationships with high-net-worth individuals, corporations, international development partners, and philanthropic organisations.
Experience in working with donor databases or CRM platforms, and the ability to leverage digital tools for fundraising and engagement.
Sound financial acumen and experience with budgeting, forecasting, and reporting in donor-funded environments.
Strong strategic leadership, team management, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to craft compelling funding proposals, reports, and marketing material.
Understanding of the South African higher education policy landscape, and experience engaging with government departments (e.g., DHET, NRF, TIA) and national funding mechanisms.
Experience in advancement marketing, stakeholder engagement, and alumni relations will be an advantage.

Lead the establishment and operationalization of the University’s Resource Mobilization Centre, including governance, staffing, and business processes.
Develop and implement a comprehensive Resource Mobilization Strategy aligned with the University’s Strategic Plan and aligned with transformation and sustainability goals.
Develop fundraising campaigns focused on targeted audiences including alumni, corporate South Africa, local and international donors, foundations, and development agencies.
Build and maintain long-term, meaningful relationships with donors, sponsors, alumni, business partners, and government entities to secure sustained support for University projects.
Identify and pursue innovative funding sources such as impact investing, endowments, social enterprises, and Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs).

Promote a culture of philanthropy and giving among staff, students, alumni, and University stakeholders through awareness and engagement activities.
Oversee the development of alumni engagement strategies, working in collaboration with other internal departments and the alumni office.
Coordinate gift processing, donor recognition, and stewardship programmes, ensuring transparency and accountability in all fundraising activities.
Provide high-level support to academic and administrative units in developing project concept notes, donor pitches, and funding applications.
Monitor, evaluate, and report on fundraising performance, donor trends, and Return on Investment (ROI) metrics.
Lead the University’s participation in national and international fundraising consortia, university alliances, and advancement networks such as INHEA or CASE Africa.
Prepare strategic communications, reports, and presentations for Council, Senate, donors, and other key stakeholders.
Facilitate staff training and capacity building on fundraising and donor relationship management across relevant units.

FUNDRAISING ADMINISTRATOR – OFFICE OF THE DIRECTOR: RESOURCE MOBILIZATION
The University of Limpopo invites applications from dynamic and suitably qualified individuals for the position of Fundraising Administrator in the Office of the Director: Resource Mobilization. The purpose of this role is to provide strategic administrative, secretarial, and logistical support to the Director and the Resource Mobilization Centre. The incumbent will contribute to the operational efficiency of the Centre, especially in coordinating funding proposals, donor reporting, compliance tracking, and stakeholder communication.
