Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer: English Studies (Two posts)
Requirements:
- A PhD in English Language.
- Sound knowledge of paradigms in discourse analysis, sociolinguistics, and second language acquisition will be an added advantage.
- Proven publication record of accomplishment in accredited journals (Minimum of at least 3 publications in DHET accredited journals for senior lecturer and 5 for Associate professor).
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in successful teaching at undergraduate level,
- Supervision of a minimum of 2 MA students or 1 PhD student to completion for both posts students with a proven pass rate.
- Strong understanding of collaborative, ethical, innovative and effective leadership style and commitment to higher education standards
- Committed ability to promote the Departments mission and position to internal University constituencies and external stakeholders
- Understanding the challenges facing the Higher Education Sector
Duties for Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer:
- Teaching and Learning: Full involvement in all courses, design and curriculum development, updating material in respect of national and international trends, evaluations of lectures, lecturers and course material, maintains discussion class programmes, identifies at risk students and facilitates additional assistance, undertakes discipline related research.
- Research: Supervise honours, Masters and PhD students, manage involvement in research processes and oversees and participates in project teams working on research projects, participation in conferences, produce published articles/books/chapters in book (measurable research outputs in DHET accredited journals)
- Academic citizenship: Involvement in community engagement, takes an active role in professional organisations.
- Governance: Prepare course outlines and study guides, organise course files, deliver to deadlines, records of all academic activities, participate in departmental, school and faculty committees.

SENIOR LECTURERS FOR EDUCATION MANAGEMENT (3 POSTS)
Minimum Requirements:

- Must have PhD degree in Education Leadership and Management.
- At least three (3) years of teaching experience in higher education particularly in Education Management.
- Knowledge and understanding of dynamics of Education Leadership and Management.
- Experience in curriculum and materials development in Education Management.
- Demonstrate the ability to publish articles in the accredited journal and postgraduate supervision.
- Competence in communicating knowledge and facilitating teaching and learning.
- Ability to teach well at different academic levels, commensurate with the nature of the post applied for.
- Ability and willingness to participate in community engagement projects.

- Expertise in Comparative Polities, Social Movements, International Political Economy.
- Experience in the development of e-learning materials and the use of various online platforms for teaching and learning in Higher Education.

LECTURER: SOCIAL WORK
A vacancy exists for a suitably qualified and experienced individual in the above post. The successful individual will form part of a dynamic team, responsible for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching as well as supervision in Social Work. The incumbent will form part of the Social Work Department within the School of Social Sciences, Faculty of Humanities.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Social Work (Studying towards a PhD in Social Work will be an added advantage).
- Valid registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
- Three (3) years’ experience as a practising social worker.
- Knowledge of various fields of specialisation in social work, excellent communication and administrative skills.
- A proven record of subsidy generating publications/articles in SAPSE accredited journals within the social work field will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of various teaching methods currently used in higher education institutions (HEIs).

- Bachelor of Laws and Master of Laws degrees (LLB & LLM).
- At least one (1) year teaching experience in the legal field at a tertiary institution, e.g. as a Tutor or Junior lecturer or recognised mentor.
- A certified assessor and moderator for higher education.

- Provide supervision of research works of LLB and LLM students.

- Present papers at conferences.

Job Purpose:
The purpose of a graphic designer job is to create visual concepts, using computer software or by hand, to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, or captivate consumers. The role of a graphic designer is to develop the overall layout and design for a wide range of applications including advertisements, brochures, magazines, corporate reports, websites, and much more. The job of a graphic designer is to use typography, colour, and imagery to bring creative concepts to life, and to communicate a message effectively to a target audience. The ultimate goal of a graphic designer is to create designs that have a high visual impact, and that effectively communicate the intended message.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Social Media & Content Manager to ensure graphics support social media initiatives and online strategic direction.
- Design promotional graphics for website, social media, e-blasts, sales literature & presentations, tradeshow materials, and digital/online banner ads
- Design and produce various graphic design elements, including but not limited to banners, infographics, logos, brochures, and newsletters.
- Develop creative graphics, styles, and layouts for digital and print media, including social media posts, website graphics, and corporate identity pieces.
- Work with cross-functional teams to produce high-quality communication materials in line with brand guidelines.
- Collaborating with other members of a team, including printers, copywriters, photographers, and other designers, to complete projects
- Incorporating feedback and making revisions to designs based on feedback from clients, managers, or colleagues
- Staying up-to-date with industry trends and new software tools to constantly improve skillset
Job Requirements:
- Diploma or relevant qualification in graphic design or related field.
- At least two years of experience working as a graphic designer.
- A strong portfolio showcasing a range of creative designs in various media formats.
- Proficiency in CorelDraw, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Acrobat) and other design software.
- A Good understanding of graphic design principles and pre-press processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and a keen eye for design aesthetics.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and deliver high-quality designs within tight deadlines.
- Knowledge and experience with digital marketing, social media, and UX/UI design would be an added advantage.

MARKETING & COMMUNICATION DIVISION
FOOD SERVICES SUPERVISOR: STAFF RESTAURANT
Job Purpose
- Providing an effective comprehensive operational management service to the Food Service unit, to manage provision of quality and nutritionally adequate meals for clients’ needs according to the University policies and or protocols.
- Reinforce proper service to the University staff and stakeholders by adhering to client satisfaction, skills development food safety and hygiene, environmental hygiene and continuous upgrading of the standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor the performance levels of personnel with a formal and approved performance management system. Identify learning and development needs with performance management for both formal and informal training, including the development of the employee’s culinary skills involved in food preparation and service.
- Monitor prices of items, menus and functions and ensure that it complies with principles.
- Ensure the inventory is managed to stay within the unit’s budget and manage stock distribution.
- Contribute to planning the capital budget for the unit.
- Monitor prices regarding items/menus and functions and ensure it complies with the desired gross profit margin. Do the necessary recommendations, where applicable.
- Compile SOP/regulations for use in the food service unit by food service managers and the staff
- Responsible for development, evaluation, and adjustments to recipe standardization, menu, and item sales products. Make sure that guidelines in the standardized recipe manual are followed.
- Facilitate and conduct production meetings.
- Ensure that the building and/or unit is maintained and up to regulatory standards by monitoring and reporting all maintenance issues to the relevant person(s) and/or third-party contractors.
- Manage functions according to prescribed guideline, manage special (ad hoc) projects according to prescribed guidelines
- Monitor prices of items, menus and functions and ensure that it complies with principles
- Make constructive contributions to the development, formalizing, and implementation of marketing strategies
Job Requirements
- B Tech / Degree, or equivalent in Foodservice management/Hospitality Management and or Food and Beverage Management and Post Graduate Diploma/ Certificate in Hospitality management.
- A minimum of 4 (four) years as a foodservice unit manager
- Appropriate experience in food service/hospitality services / industrial catering regarding operational management and supervision, with special reference to food service training, financial knowledge, and advanced culinary skills.
