ICTS: ENTERPRISE IT INFRASTRUCTURE AND OPERATIONS
Post: Microsoft Specialist X2 (Ref: TBC)
Minimum Requirements:
- NQF Level 6 in ICT or Electronic Engineering (plus MCSE would be ideal)
- 5 – 8 years’ relevant ICT experience within the Microsoft environments
- Sound knowledge and experience with:
- Microsoft products and services
- Project management
- ICT change management
- Service management
Summary of Duties (but not limited to):
- The need for the development of a control system is identified during operational execution
- The need for a control system is identified as a result of the auditing process
- Receive a request for the development of a control system and analyse to determine the requirements of the control system.
- Consult existing control systems to determine components that can be utilised in the new control system
- Determine dependencies, inter-dependencies, and co-dependencies to other control systems
- Review the company control systems to ensure alignment
- Consult audit findings, where applicable, to determine procedural problems or risk areas
- Develop the first draft of the control system in accordance with company format and requirements
- Conduct the necessary working groups with the relevant role players to obtain inputs into the draft control system
- Distribute the draft to the relevant role players, for input, and repeat the process until all affected role players are satisfied with the draft
- Develop the final control system in accordance with the company standards and specifications
- Obtain approval for the control system in accordance with the delegation of authority
- Implement the control system in accordance with Institutional policies and procedures
- Communicate the implementation of the control system in accordance with policies and procedures
- Upload the control system onto the control system database for utilisation by the relevant role players.
- Receive a request for the development of a solution and analyse to determine the nature of the functionality
- The need for functionality is identified during operational output
- Liaise with the users to determine the exact needs and to compile a first draft URS
- Ensure that escalated problems are resolved within the allocated time frame
- Test the solution to ensure that the diagnosed problem is resolved
- Implement the solution in accordance with procedures and test to ensure that the solution is functional
- Manages relationships with, and regularly assesses needs and views of core customers in the DUT in order to improve the quality
- Service quality must be analysed in accordance with scheduled analysis activities
- Initiate the corrective actions where necessary and manage to ensure rectification.

- 5-years’ experience in storage systems
- 3 years’ experience of Microsoft Azure
- Sound knowledge of:
- Cloud Development

- The need for the development of a control system is identified during operational execution
- The need for a control system is identified as a result of the auditing process
- Receive a request for the development of a control system and analyse to determine the requirements of the control system
- Consult existing control systems to determine components that can be utilised in the new control system

- Researching new cloud server/systems technologies
- Receive and analyse a request for the development of script to determine the nature of the functionality
- Identify the need for new script during operational output
- Liase with the users to determine the exact needs and to compile a first draft URS
- Conduct an impact study to determine the possible effect on the current- and associated systems
- Conduct a feasibility study to determine the cost of the implementation of the script
- Obtain approval for the development of the script and the necessary acquisitions
- Compile a functional specification in accordance with the URS
- Develop the script in accordance with the functional specification
- Test the script to ensure that it conforms to the functional specification
- Receive a request for the development of a cloud solution/functionality and analyse to determine the nature of the solution/functionality
- Analyse received business needs to determine an appropriate solution/functionality
- Implement the software configuration strategy aligned to the overall strategy and complete maintenance actions as required
- Compile the necessary processes and plans to ensure successful implementation of the strategy
- Maintain the software development process to ensure currency and relevancy
- Ensure that the configuration management environment is managed
- Manage the software configuration repository and tools to enable line to execute the appropriate outputs
- Provide support as required to ensure operations
- Receive and analyse a request to determine the nature and extent of the support to be provided
- Escalate the problem to the relevant role players for a solution
- Ensure that escalated problems are resolved within the allocated time frame
- Analyse the business plan to determine the applicable deliverables and targets
- Determine the human resource requirements, permanent and contractors, in accordance with the expected deliverables
- Secure the human resource requirements to ensure that deliverables will be met in accordance with the expected targets
- Conduct performance reviews in accordance with policies and procedures and take corrective actions where necessary.

- 3 – 5years’ experience in switching, security, and cabling
- Understanding and application of network infrastructure, hardware and peripherals
- Knowledge and understanding of application transport and network protocols

Summary of Duties (but not limited to):
- Maintaining and administering computer networks and related computing environments including systems software, applications software, hardware, and configurations.
- Performing disaster recovery operations and data backups when required.
- Protecting data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning, and implementing network security measures.
- Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving hardware, software, and other network and system problems.
- Replacing faulty network hardware components when required.
- Maintaining, configuring, and monitoring virus protection software and email applications.
- Monitoring network performance to determine if adjustments need to be made.

Minimum Requirements:
- An NQF Level 7 in Information Technology or Electronic Engineering
- 5-8 years’ experience in switching, security, and cabling
- 3 years’ supervisory experience
- In-depth knowledge of ICT networks, network elements and peripherals
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Understanding of the interdependence of ICT networks to the ICT architecture
- Network security mechanisms and applications
- Cisco 65xx, 35xx, 29xx
Summary of Duties (but not limited to):
- Monitoring and maintaining of Network Services
- Performance monitoring of all network devices
- Proactive management of DUT network
- Planning, installation and configuration of multi network services
- Researching new server/systems technologies
- Develop and implement roll-back plans to ensure network continuity.
- Monitor integration to ensure that the network quality is up to standard.
- Determine deviances in performance and congestion in the network.
- Identify the cause of the deviances and congestion.
- Reconfigure the network in accordance with procedures to ensure that the deviances and congestion are eradicated.
- Document actions for future reference purposes and update network records accordingly

- Archive the report for future reference purposes.
- Determine the human resource requirements, permanent and contractors, in accordance with the expected deliverables.
- Secure the human resource requirements to ensure that deliverables will be met in accordance with the expected targets.
- Appraise performance at the end of the performance period in accordance with policies and procedure.
