Junior Lecturer – Human Nutrition

Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree; BSc in Dietetics or B. Nutrition
- Registered as a registered dietician with the Health Professions Council of South Africa
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a registered dietician
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience of teaching in higher education
- Experience in both face-to- face and online facilitation of teaching, learning and assessment activities
- Registered for a relevant Master’s degree
- A postgraduate diploma in higher education or certificate in assessment and moderation will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Deadline driven, ability to multi-task, organise, plan, work under pressure and long hours
Duties
- Facilitation of teaching and learning assessment activities of students at undergraduate level in Basic Nutrition and other programs within the University
- Develop study material in Basic Nutrition and related disciplines
- Supervise undergraduate research
- Foster collaboration in research, teaching, and community engagement in the field of Nutrition and Dietetics
- Engage in own research, publish and present at national and international conferences
- Engage in delegated University Committees
- Perform and contribute to all the Departmental administrative duties

MARKETING AND COMMUNICATION
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: EVENTS AND AMENITIES

An Eventing and Amenities Unit - in the Department of Marketing and Communication - will coordinate all these, and the University seeks to recruit a suitably qualified and competent Unit Head.
Requirements:
- Marketing and/or Communication or Project Management or Sports Management or Hospitality degree.
- Event management experience or understanding of the strategic value of eventing as a marketing and communication tool.
- Knowledge of hospitality, restaurant management and/or sports management.
- Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Exceptional management, planning, budgeting and reporting skills.
- 5 years of management experience with a demonstrable track record of managing sizeable teams and dealing with multiple stakeholders.
- Sponsorship management or fundraising expertise or sports management/golf or club management experience, and/or hospitality management experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establishing and managing the Eventing and Amenities Unit.
- Creating the standard operating procedures for the Unit's functioning.
- Creating guidelines for the establishment and running of an hotel on campus and for converting some of UL's properties on campus into bed-and-breakfast tourist establishments
- Creating guidelines for turning the Turfloop Campus of UL into a (tourism) heritage site - in concert with the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture - by preserving and restoring its buildings, fauna and flora, and other features of historical significance.
- Turning some of UL's existing restaurants (and some buildings) into competitive restaurants to make the campus a tourist node and to take advantage of the University's location to generate third-stream income.
- Improving the University's golf course into a world-class facility, organising top events on it and by hosting developmental golf courses for the community of Mankweng, Polokwane, Capricorn District and Limpopo.
- Serving as a member of the Exco of the Department, along with the Executive Director, the Director of Marketing and Communication and the other Heads of Units.

The University of Limpopo is seeking a Director in Residence Administration to ensure the effective and efficient management, administration, planning, organisation, monitoring, supervising and evaluation of the residence in line with the policies and regulations of the institution
Key Responsibilities
- Be responsible for strategic activities of the department including the Annual Performance Plan.
- Develop, review and enforce policies and procedures.
- Ensure operational leadership and execution.

REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications

Experience

- Knowledge and experience in the changing higher education landscape nationally and internationally and its effect on Residence Administration.
- An in-depth understanding of budgetary procedures, financial accountability and sustainability, public-management processes, information systems and technology.
- Proven record of accomplishment in leading a team of personnel at different operational levels.
- Knowledge and experience of working with on-campus and off-campus students in a professional support environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of student life in residences and residence administration related services, strategic functions, assessment.
- Knowledge and experience in developing and implementing strategies and systems aimed at good governance with an institutional setup, at departmental and inter-departmental level.

Requirements
- A minimum of a Bachelor degree in Librarianship or a Bachelor’s degree in any field plus a Higher or a Postgraduate Diploma in Librarianship
- Two years’ work experience within information services and an academic library or research institute
- Ability to work with library colleagues, students, staff and researchers in a team environment

Duties
The successful applicant will be required to:
- Assist in engaging with the School in terms of the identification of training needs, coordinate all trainings relevant to the School and the provision of information
- Oversee and collaborate with other Subject Librarians to develop and produce a variety of informational and instructional materials for Orientation, Information Literacy (IL) and Bibliographic Instruction (BI)
- Serve as liaison between the Library and the School
- Collaborate with the Library Acquisition section and recommended books for the School
- Collaborate with the Library Client services section and request books for the School (Block loans)
