Job description
The NITheCS node based at UKZN wishes to appoint an Administrative Officer to provide support to researchers, postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows associated with various activities of NITheCS. This position requires an individual who has the ability to pay close attention to detail and the ability to work independently and accurately under pressure. S/he will be primarily responsible for inter alia, financial and general administration, international and local travel and accommodation bookings, procurement, processing salary appointment forms, bursary payments, organizing conferences, claims, cost recovery, extracting financial reports and general administrative duties. S/he must have knowledge of scientific type setting software and will work closely with NRF and NITheCS.
The incumbent will report to the UKZN NITheCS Head of Node.
 
Minimum requirements
  • Matric plus one-year relevant qualification.
  • 2 years relevant work experience in a similar environment.
  • Experience in word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Experience in financial administration
Short-listed candidates may be required to undergo a skills test.
The appointment may be extended depending on continued funding from the external funder.

The University requires the services of energetic and experienced Cleaners, who will be responsible for providing comprehensive cleaning duties to ensure that the University environment is hazard free, hygienic, and usable.
A role requires physical activity as the Cleaner is responsible for cleaning activities inside and outside of buildings and various University facilities. The main responsibilities include, general cleaning duties in offices, kitchens, ablutions, laboratories, passages, corridors and venues. Refuse removal; operating minor machinery, moving furniture, window cleaning, deep floor cleaning and maintenance.
 
Minimum requirements
  • Grade 8
  • One (1) year of relevant experience in the cleaning industry
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Knowledge of the operation of basic cleaning equipment
