SENIOR LECTURER: LEGAL SKIILS (12 MONTHS FIXED TERM CONTRACT)
EAST LONDON CAMPUS
 
Applications are invited from appropriately qualified candidates to apply for the above-mentioned position.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:   
  • Doctorate (LLD) in Law.
  • At least five (5) years teaching experience in higher education.
  • A track record of DHET accredited research publications commensurate with the academic rank of senior lecturer.
  • Post-graduate supervision experience at least at Master’s level.
 Added advantages: 
  • NRF rating.
  • Registration with professional / scientific bodies.
  • Post admission experience either as an Advocate or an Attorney.
 
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Teaching and learning within the department.
  • Understanding of and familiarity with the higher education teaching, learning, research, and innovation domain.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strict observance to ethical principles and academic integrity.
  • Suitable ability to mentor junior staff or colleagues.
  • Supervise post-graduate research.
  • Fundraising for research.

  • Master’s degree in Social Science and Humanities or related field
  • Registered for a Doctoral degree
  • Two years of teaching experience at an institution of higher learning.
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Must be able to teach the above-mentioned modules in the Extended Programme
  • Participate in administrative duties
  • Undertake research either individually or in collaboration
  • Participate in different committees at the departmental and faculty level
  • Participate in community initiatives embarked on by the department and faculty
  • Any other duties related to academic and professional development of self and students
 
ADDED ADVANTAGE
  • A Doctoral degree in Social Science and Humanities
  • Experience teaching in extended programme
  • Experience in supervision of postgraduate students
