The Department of Nature Conservation requires the services of two part-time lecturers to assist in teaching the listed subjects in both the Diploma Nature Conservation and Diploma Wildlife Management streams, in the Faculty of Science at the Pretoria Campus. All part-time lecturers are remunerated using the official TUT hourly tariffs. All part-time lecturing appointments are limited to a maximum of 19 hours per week:

NUMBER OF HOURS: 
Maximum contact hours per academic week 19 hours (2-6 hours/subject) 
*Allocated hours per subject is dependent upon student enrolment and number of practical classes. 
Lecturer will be responsible for the theory and practical subjects. 
 
Minimum Requirements 
• Advanced Diploma, Postgraduate Diploma (or equivalent), master’s degree or PhD in Wildlife Management, Nature Conservation, Zoology, or other relating fields.
• Study record with major subjects. 
• At least three years teaching and/or research experience at a tertiary institution will be required and/or industry related experience. 
• Proficiency in MS Office computer programs. 
• Full proficiency in English reading, writing, and communicating is a prerequisite. 
• Completion of a TUT License to Teach programme will be compulsory. 
 
Critical performance arrears: 
• Preparing theory and conducting lectures. 
• Advanced presentation (online and face-to-face) skills. 
• Proven ability in using teaching technology (including myTUTor (LMS)). 
• Setting and marking of all assessments. 
• Participating in programme and subject meetings. 
• General administration such as capturing test and assignment marks, uploading documents on myTUTor. 
• Consultation and interaction with industry where necessary. 
• Student consultation. 
 
Knowledge and Skills:

The Faculty of the Arts and Design in the Department of Visual Communication: Commercial Photography has a vacant position for a Lecturer at Arts Campus. 
 
Core Functions: 
• Teach: Deliver both theoretical and practical photography modules to students, focusing on core concepts while integrating social media strategies. 
• Mentor: Guide students as they develop technical photography skills, social media portfolios, and an understanding of digital content creation. 
• Create: Develop engaging course material that emphasises both the art and business of photography, including lessons on leveraging social media for professional success. 
• Collaborate: Work closely with a team of passionate academics and industry professionals, contributing to departmental projects, committees, events and community engagements. 
• Innovate: Stay up to date with industry trends in commercial photography and social media, continually refreshing your curriculum to reflect these changes. 
• Research & Publish: Conduct research in photography and digital media and contribute to scholarly publications. 
• Administrative Responsibilities: Manage teaching and learning administration, including study guides, module content, exams, and first-year coordination. Engage in industry liaison, community service, curriculum development, and integration of new technologies, while contributing to departmental and faculty activities. 
 
Minimum requirements: 
1. Academic qualifications: 
• A minimum NQF Level 9 qualification (Masters) in Photography or a related field (the undergraduate must be in photography). 
• Completed courses in social media marketing or digital media strategy are an added advantage. 
 
2. Experience: 
• Three years of teaching experience at the tertiary level, with the ability to teach both theoretical and practical photography modules and/or three years of industry experience in commercial photography, with a portfolio of work.  
 
Knowledge and Skills: 
• Must be skilled and knowledgeable in commercial photography. 
• Candidates should be able to show a professional photographic portfolio of recent work. 
• Advanced computer literacy in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, Microsoft Office, Google Drive and related applications and relevant learning management software (LMS) is essential. 
• Strong social media content creation skills, with experience managing professional photography-related accounts on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok. 
 
Other requirements: 
• Candidates should be able to show a professional photographic portfolio of recent work.

Core functions: 
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following: 
• Assist with ad-hoc booking requests (block courses and assessments). 
• Arrange invigilators for tests (phone, SMS, follow-up, and assist employees when invigilators do not show up). 
• Ensure that all bookings of venues are confirmed in writing and scheduled as requested by departments. 
• Handle queries from Assessment Management relating to test weeks, incident reports. 
• Arrange and confirm in writing all support services related and or requested for the venue booking. 
• Ensuring that all invigilation claims are processed after ad hoc bookings and test weeks. 
• Handle F12 transfer of funds document and submit to the relevant departments for payment of invigilator claim forms during test weeks, then submit to Finance department for processing. 
• Coordinate all Venue Bookings with the official departmental timetable representative to ensure maximum utilization of all facilities under the control of the Department. 
• Coordinate the submission of timetables according to the set dates provided by Facility Management. 
• Send information out for SR1 (Service Request) and SR2 requests (Service Delivery). 
• Ensuring data files are recorded correctly for submission the AQS to set up grouping on ITS system. 
• Ensure that all timetables are captured on the CELCAT ITS System for all TUT Campuses Engineering Departments as agreed by HOD’s. 
• Organising and control of venues allocated to academic departments for lecturing purposes. 
• Booking or submitting optimal utilization for SR4-Bookings (request for additional venues as set out per campus). 
• Ensure optimal utilization of lecturing space within the Institution. 
• Synchronise venue bookings with the timetable facilities. 
• Capturing of space data on the ABACUS CELCAT programme (centralised on 
• Pretoria Campus and as identified and agreed by the HOD). 
• Technical Service maintenance of facilities as and when needed. 
• Logging of faults and technical problems within the venues. 
• Assisting Facility Management with HEMIS report errors. 
• Compile memorandums with important information, for distribution to the faculty.
• Distribute important information/documents to the faculty when necessary. 
• Compile deadlines for test weeks/ad-hoc bookings/reports and CELCAT timetables.
• Compile reports for submission to FCTL etc. 
• Send timetables and the test week schedule to corporate communication for uploading to the TUT website. 
• Attend meetings relating to planning, timetables, etc. 
• Liaise with Facility Management on a daily basis about venue bookings, function arrangements, etc. 
• Attending ad hoc FCTL meeting on Faculty levels. 
• One-on-one meetings with each Departmental timetable representative to finalise timetables after all changes and corrections were done. 
 
Minimum Requirements 
• NQF level 6 (minimum of 360 credits) 
• (A relevant 3-year qualification in Office Management and Technology; Administrative Information Management; Administrative Management. 
 
Experience:
• Three years of experience in facility Management; scheduling; resource allocation; data analysis; advanced Excel (including pivot tables, macros, and automation) and database management (SQL). 
 
Knowledge and Skills 
• Must have basic knowledge of the academic timetable environment. 
• Must be able to understand and render support to the lecturer in the lecture room environment. 
• Must know the support services environment to be able to determine the users need in a specific facility.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR LAB TECHNICIAN 
Academic qualifications: 
• National Diploma Surveying (NQF 6) 
 
Experience:
• At least 2 years of experience in a laboratory in a university setting. 
• Knowledge and Skills required: 
➢ Application of software programs such as Model Maker, Surpac, AutoCAD, ArcGIS Pro, IDRISI and Trimble Business Centre will be advantageous. 
➢ Experience with unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) will be an added advantage. 
➢ Knowledge of and practice of occupational health and safety in the workplace will be advantageous.

Critical Performance Areas 
• To present lectures and assessments of students in related subjects in undergraduate to postgraduate programs. 
• Lead quality teaching and learning with technology such as comfortable use of the Learning Management Systems (LMS). 
• Lead subject curriculum development and subject curriculum development and/or implementation committees. 
• Responsible for and provide leadership in compiling and maintaining quality study guides, laboratory guides, subject files and other Teaching and Learning material. 
• Responsible for administrative tasks related to research, innovation, teaching and learning activities. 
• Lead departmental, faculty and institutional initiatives in collaboration with Technology Stations, Centres, Institutes and Research Niche Areas. 
• Lead institutional research and innovation projects 
• Liaise with industry on course and subject levels regarding curricula, visits, research and other interactions. 
• Lead the development and presentation of Short Learning Programmes (SLPs) to assist the Industry with skills and development needs. 
• To be actively involved in the research activities of the department in the field of Microcontroller Systems, Embedded Systems and Software Design, and provide strategic research leadership. 
• Lead national and international research and innovation activities. 
• Responsible for independent research and innovation projects and associated funding. 
• Participate in research and innovation activities at the Technology Stations, Centres, Institutes and Research Niche Areas. 
• Teach and supervise postgraduate students at all levels.

Minimum Requirement 
1. Academic qualifications: 
• A relevant Doctorate Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (NQF Level 10) with a research specialization in Artificial Intelligence and Embedded Systems 
 
2. Experience: 
• Five (5) years relevant experience at senior lecturer level. 
• Record of accomplishment of successful supervision of postgraduate students at least at Doctorate Level. 
• Evidence in leading research activities in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Embedded systems. 
• Evidence of proven record accomplishment of scholarly research outputs in accredited journals and peer-reviewed conferences. 
• Evidence of attracting external funding for research and innovation projects. 
• Evidence of National Research Foundation (NRF) rating in an appropriate research rating category or ability to be NRF Ratable. 
• Evidence of industry liaison and involvement in Centres, Institutes and Technology Stations, will be an advantage. 
• Evidence in contributing to the development of new curriculum in HEIs environment. 
• Evidence of Experience with impactful Community Engagement activities. 
 
3. Knowledge and Skills 
• Versatile in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Microcontroller Systems and Software Engineering Designs related subjects. 
• Must demonstrate practical experience through successful projects in the field of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Microcontroller Systems and Software Engineering Designs. 
 
4. Registration with professional body: 
• Registration with ECSA in an appropriate Professional Category is advantageous.
• Holding valid and relevant membership of at least one recognized voluntary associations/societies is advantageous.

The Department of Electrical Engineering has a permanent position for an Associate Professor in Electrical Engineering in specialty of Electronics at the Pretoria Campus
 
Critical Performance Areas 
• To present lectures and assessment of students in related subjects in undergraduate to postgraduate programs. 
• Lead quality teaching and learning with technology such as comfortable use of the Learning Management Systems (LMS). 
• Lead subject curriculum development and subject curriculum development and/or implementation committees. 
• Responsible for and provide leadership in compiling and maintaining quality study guides, laboratory guides, subject files and other Teaching and Learning material. 
• Responsible for administrative tasks related to research, innovation, teaching and learning activities. 
• Lead departmental, faculty and institutional initiatives in collaboration with Technology Stations, Centres, Institutes and Research Niche Areas. 
• Lead institutional research and innovation projects. 
• Liaise with industry on course and subject levels regarding curricula, visits, research and other interactions. 
• Lead the development and presentation of Short Learning Programmes to assist Industry with skills and development needs. 
• To be actively involved in the research activities of the department in the field of Microcontroller Systems, Embedded Systems and Software Design, and provide strategic research leadership. 
• Lead national and international research and innovation activities. 
• Responsible for independent research and innovation projects and associated funding. 
• Participate in research and innovation activities at the Technology Stations, Centres, Institutes and Research Niche Areas. 
• Teach and supervise postgraduate students at all levels. 
• Produce at least two research and innovation units per year. 
 
Minimum Requirement 
1. Academic qualifications: 
• A relevant Doctorate Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (NQF Level 10) with a research specialization in Electronics 
 
2. Experience: 
• Five (5) years relevant experience at Senior Lecturer level. 
• Record of accomplishment of successful supervision of postgraduate students at least at Doctorate Level. 
• Evidence in leading research activities in the fields of computational intelligence and microcontroller systems and software engineering. 
• Evidence of proven record accomplishment of scholarly research outputs in accredited journals and peer-reviewed conferences. 
• Evidence of attracting external funding for research and innovation projects. 
• Evidence of industry liaison and involvement in Centres, Institutes and Technology Stations, will be an advantage. 
• Evidence in contributing to the development of new curriculum in HEIs environment. 
• Evidence of Experience with Community Engagement activities. 
 
3. Knowledge and Skills 
• Demonstrated knowledge in the subject areas of Electronics research and education. 
• Demonstrated successful experience in development, industrial or commercial projects in the field of Electronics. 
 
4. Registration with professional body: 
• Registration with ECSA in an appropriate Professional Category is advantageous.
• Holding a valid and relevant membership of at least one recognized voluntary associations/societies is advantageous.

The position requires someone to provide effective processing and administration of orders placed within the university. 
 
Key Performance Areas: 
• Receive and capturing of RRs on data system. 
• Solving queries of RR’s received 
• Capturing of data from RRs into orders 
• Returning of processed orders to relevant buyer together with requisition for signatures. 
• Processing of orders. 
• Faxing of orders to suppliers 
• Scan and mail copy of orders to the requestor. - Feedback to client. 
• Handling of telephonically and electronically queries. 
• Updating register by adding information of processed orders on the register with all the relevant information. 
• Distribution of processed orders to Asset Control and Creditor Department. 
• Query late or outstanding delivery date with suppliers. 
• Negotiate new or revised delivery date with supplier. 
• Record correspondence with supplier on the order. 
• Report back to end user/buyer regarding status of outstanding orders. 
 
Minimum Requirements: 
Academic Qualification

• A relevant 3-year qualification in Logistics/Warehousing/Procurement/Supply Chain Management related qualification. 
 
Experience
