The Department of Human Resource Management, through the Research Directorate at Mangosuthu University of Technology, is pleased to announce a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship for 2025–2026 in Human Resource Management. The fellowship will work on research in human resource management, strategic management, and entrepreneurship. The candidate is expected to contribute to the academic community and demonstrate a commitment to advancing economic knowledge.
Key Performance Areas:
• Engage in collaborative research projects alongside academic staff members, leveraging your expertise in Human Resource management, Strategic management, and Entrepreneurship.
• Publish a minimum of 2 manuscripts per year in reputable journals and peer-reviewed conference proceedings in this field.
• Contribute to the preparation of research papers for publication in prestigious journals (peer-reviewed journals) and presentations at leading academic conferences.
• Participate in departmental seminars, workshops, and interdisciplinary research initiatives to foster intellectual exchange and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
• Assist in mentoring and guiding graduate and undergraduate students, sharing your knowledge and experience to nurture the next generation of Human resource professionals.

Minimum Requirements:
• A recently earned PhD in Human Resource Management, strategic management, and entrepreneurship. At the time of the award, the candidate should have graduated with his/her doctorate degree no longer than within the previous five years.
• South African citizens or permanent residents will be prioritised.
• International Postdoctoral Research Fellows must have a long-term visitor’s visa endorsed for academic activities affiliated with MUT (Section 11(1)(b) Visitors Visa)
• At least 2 published journal papers in the last 24 months.
• Has not held full-time permanent academic or professional employment.
• Established track record of publications and conference contributions related to the outlined research areas.

Stipend: R300 000.00 per annum (tax-exempt)

The Department of Communication in the Faculty of Management Sciences, through the Research Directorate at Mangosuthu University of Technology, is pleased to announce a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship for 2025-2026 (12 months with performance-based extension) in Multilingualism and Translanguaging in Higher Education. A project investigating the role of African languages in higher education pedagogy affiliates with this fellowship.
Relevant theories pertain to bilingual, multilingual, and translanguaging education within the contexts of academic literacy, communication skills, and language attitudes.
Prospective candidates must demonstrate a strong understanding of the Language Policy Framework for Higher Education (2020), MUT language policy, and best practices in bi/multilingual teaching and learning. This might involve incorporating digital technologies, scholarly resources, and effective communication strategies to facilitate language acquisition.
Key Performance Areas:
• Publish manuscripts in reputable journals and peer-reviewed conference proceedings in this field.
• Ability to assist colleagues pursuing their postgraduate research and/or collaborating with other research fellows.

The Faculty Dean reports directly to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Teaching and Learning, and is responsible for the strategic positioning and pursuit of strategic and operational goals of the faculty as derived from MUT Vision 2025, the Strategic Plan 2020-2025 and the MUT Business Plan.
Minimum Requirements:
• A doctoral qualification in a discipline relevant to offerings in the faculty.
• At least ten (10) years relevant academic management experience (at the level of Senior Lecturer and above), five years of which must be at the level of an Academic HoD.
• Sound knowledge of higher education and the higher education system in South Africa and internationally.
• Relevant higher education leadership and managerial skills.
• A strong research profile that demonstrates leadership.
• A strong record of initiating and managing collaborations and partnerships at local, regional and international levels.
Recommendations:
• A full Professorship will be an added advantage.

• High academic and professional standing in the field of expertise, and high academic credibility amongst peers.

The Faculty Dean reports directly to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Teaching and Learning, and is responsible for the strategic positioning and pursuit of strategic and operational goals of the faculty as derived from MUT Vision 2025, the Strategic Plan 2020-2025 and the MUT Business Plan.
Minimum Requirements:
• A doctoral qualification in a discipline relevant to offerings in the faculty.
• At least ten (10) years relevant academic management experience (at the level of Senior Lecturer and above), five years of which must be at the level of an Academic HoD.
• Sound knowledge of higher education and the higher education system in South Africa and internationally.
• Relevant higher education leadership and managerial skills.
• A strong research profile that demonstrates leadership.
• A strong record of initiating and managing collaborations and partnerships at local, regional and international levels.
Recommendations:
• A full Professorship will be an added advantage.

• Development of curriculum to align with 4IR international trends.
• Academic student support through progress monitoring & identifying “at risk” students timeously & developing intervention strategies.
• Enforcing the Occupational Health & Safety Act regulations. · Continuous professional development through keeping abreast with latest developments in Electronic/Communications Engineering.
• Conduct appropriate research, publish results & initiate new research areas in the Department and keep abreast of professional literature.
• Foster team spirit and collaborate with others.
• Contribute to community engagement initiatives, liaise with industry, & facilitate cooperative education initiatives, form industrial alliances & partnerships.
• Perform other duties delegated by the HOD.
Minimum Requirements:
• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronic Engineering with specialization in Mechatronic or Electromechanical Engineering. The basic qualification should be BTech/BEng/BSc degree in Electromechanical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering.
• At least three (3) years lecturing experience at University level.
• Evidence of research experience.
Recommendations:
• Registration with Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
• Possession of doctoral degree in the relevant field.
• At least two (2) years Industrial working experience.
