Position Purpose
To provide a single point of contact for end-users to receive technical support of information technology equipment at the Transnet sites that he/she will be supporting, by installing, diagnosing, repairing, and upgrading all computer hardware and software as well as disaster recovery, business continuity planning, business phone solutions and security solutions to ensure optimal workstation performance. To provide continual and reliable desktop support for all Transnet users in order that all the required business activities can continue functioning. This includes all facets of the Desktop environment in order to achieve no downtime and zero call backs. Moreover, the functions of this position have become multi-functional Desktop Engineers supporting hardware, software, servers, printers, multimedia, networking and mobility and video conferencing.
Position Output
1. Ensure uptime of network, internet, mail connectivity, end user logon access and reliability of equipment used.
2. Using hardware and software tools effectively to ensure efficient business processes.
3. Supporting end users' access to servers and basic troubleshooting.
4. Backup management of user data on laptops, IPADs, cellular devices and small systems. Management of backup tapes and off-site storage areas (if applicable)
5. Assisting with basic server configurations, particularly around file sharing, printers, or other resources that are part of the desktop support technician’s scope
6. Maintaining and implementing ICT security measures.
7.The provision of technical support service for Transnet end users by analysing, diagnosing and resolving simple and complicated software/ hardware/ network/ in-house business application software/ server problems and issues that clients experience.
8. To procure repairs and maintenance and replacement of ICT equipment and goods and services to ensure a reduced downtime by ensuring availability of equipment.
9. Direct quality assurance testing of new processes or systems and Research and Development testing of new software and hardware to check usability and benefits to Transnet.
10. Distribution of system downtimes, ICT Tips to assist end-users with basic computing
11. First line support of network printers, non-network printers, SAP printers for end-users and manage printer cartridge replacements and stock replenishments
12. Setup, configure and repair video conferencing facilities, boardroom equipment (projectors, microphones, tele-conference devices, pointers) and digital signage connectivity issues as required
13. Install and configure equipment and external Client's hardware for special projects and training sessions
14. Ensure availability of LAN, WAN, WIFI, WWAN (3G) and APN for remote access on laptops, IPADs, cellular devices
15. Project Management — The execution of ICT related minor works projects for various business units as required— Full project life cycle
16. First line support of all functions that are outsourced to third parties — Printers, networks, Audio visual, Digital Signage, VC, Voice recording
17. Equipment and Computer room maintenance and management — Physical and Electronically, as required

Position Purpose
To oversee aviation operations for Richards Bay/Cape Town Port and to ensure that TNPA aircraft operations are undertaken efficiently in support of TNPA’s pilotage service.
Under directives and guidance from the Chief Pilot: Aviation & Operations Manager: Aviation lead a team of aviation personnel and support personnel in the Port of Richards Bay/Cape Town to ensure that the highest standards of aviation operations and safety are adhered to at all times. Ensure that facility and equipment are well maintained to comply with operational requirements.
To ensure that operations are in full compliance with the regulatory authorities such as the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA), South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA) and the Department of Transport (DoT).
Position Outputs
1. Assist the Chief Pilot: Aviation & Operations Manager: Aviation in developing plans and roadmaps for efficient and safe aviation operations that comply with regulatory requirements and TNPA processes and procedures.
2. Oversee and manage the execution of all aviation operations in the Port of Richards Bay/Cape Town to meet and exceed customer and stakeholder expectations.
3. Oversee all projects related to the proper licensing of operational facilities and TNPA aircraft in the Port of Richards Bay/Cape Town.
4. Maintain the highest technical and operational standards for efficient service delivery in pursuit of excellence in all business undertakings.
5. Direct and implement corrective and improvement action plans within the Port and the department from Chief Pilot: Aviation and Operations Manager: Aviation directives.
6. Consistently interpret the operational environment to ascertain levels of risks and map out mitigation strategies.
7. Enforce strategic direction, development and implementation of aviation best practices to meet and exceed minimum requirements, and adapt to changes.
8. Oversee the monthly reporting system in the Port, analyse threats and develop intervention strategies to be liaised with Chief Pilot: Aviation. Compile weekly and monthly Base reports.
9. Monitor and manage expenditure and ensure that spending occurs within budget restrictions.
10. Ensure that the Port Richards Bay/Cape Town helicopter facility is ready at all time for internal and external audits. Ensure facility is well maintained in good condition.
11. Oversee the manning and efficiency of flight operations, and training programmes in lieu with Chief Pilot: Aviation for the Richards Bay/Cape Town base for all personnel.
12. Ensure that human resources are managed in accordance with policies and procedures taking into account effective diversity management.

Position Purpose
Safely and cost effectively control cargo operations (loading, off-loading, stacking, gate control, weighing) through checking, inspecting and reporting on all dispatched and received containers by road or rail and capture all actions on the NaVis system in accordance to the Terminal Standard Operating Procedures.
Position Outputs
1.Physical check of incoming trains. a. Physically check actual container, wagon, seal numbers, reefer cable and damages and instruct General Worker to unlock the twist locks. b. Execute equipment utilisation off-loading sequence. c. Ensure that train is on working stage. d. Instruct and observe safe off-loading by Operator. e. Capture actual container off-loading information on HHT (Hand Held terminal) f. Check and report on discrepancies/damages and contamination to be reported immediately to Supervisors.
2.Physical check of outgoing trains. a. Physically check empty wagons and record wagon numbers, type of wagon and carrying capacity. b. Record outgoing wagon list and forward to Senior Cargo c. Obtain load sheet with container list to be loaded. d. Instruct General Worker to set twist locks. e. Plan equipment utilisation loading sequence. f. Instruct and observe safe loading by Operator. g. Capture actual container loading information on HHT (Hand Held Terminal) h. Instruct and ensure that General workers lock twist locks. i. Check and report on discrepancies/damages and contamination to be reported immediately to Supervisors.
3.Control stacking and de-stacking of containers a. Identify stack allocations b. Create stack capacity based on housekeeping c. Oversee the stacking action d. Record the stacking position e. Verify physical stacking position by utilising manual yard report or HHT f. Capture new position where relevant. g. Obtain number of empty stack containers and type per customer h. Record stack particulars i. Verify safe stacking procedures, discrepancies and damages e.g open doors
4.Ensure and apply safety terminal operating procedures and rules in all terminal activities by a. reacting to emergencies and non-compliance by immediately reporting unsafe acts and conditions, b. report emergencies and any near misses and complete CIR, c. attend safety symposiums and Indaba’s.
5. Conduct in-gate check of road haulers a. Check and verify export documentation supplied by client b. Verify the driver, vehicle and trailer and conduct thorough inspection of container (i.e seals, container number, damages) and tare of combination c. Check pre-advise and pre-billing message d. Direct the external Driver to specific parking/stacking bay e. Instruct Operator on delivery or collection and stacking position
6. Operate Weighbridge a. Check and verify export documentation supplied by client b. Verify the driver, vehicle and trailer and conduct thorough inspection of container (i.e seals, container number, damages) and tare of combination c. Weigh and record the combination weight on weighbridge software (Klerkscale) and print weight slip and attach stamped documents. d. Ensure correct capturing of in-gate process details on NaVis system (e.g weight details, sap no)
