Position Purpose
To serve as a crew member on a tug, launch, pilot boat, work boa or floating crane operating within the confines of the port operations area. Be responsible for the safe and efficient handling of ropes, wires, winches, capstans and other deck equipment during shipping operations, To perform maintenance duties on the deck in the engine room of the craft including general cleaning and housekeeping thereby ensuring a safe, reliable and professional delivery of marine fleet services to the client.
Position Outputs
1. To safely and efficiently handle ropes, wires, winches, capstans and other deck equipment during shipping operations.
2. To perform maintenance duties on the deck and in the engine room of the craft including general cleaning and housekeeping thereby ensuring a safe , reliable and professional with delivery of marine fleet services to the client.
3. To render assistance to Chief Marine Engineer as required within training/certification capabilities, including wiping and cleaning in engine room and assistance with maintenance and repairs to machinery and equipment.
4. To perform maintenance of craft equipment, including internal and external cleaning, washing of bridge windows, preparing surfaces for painting, painting, de-rusting, repair to fenders.
5. To perform hygienic cleaning of all domestic areas including cabins, accommodation, heads and galley thereby ensuring safe and hygienic leaving conditions are maintained at all times.
6. To perform splicing of ropes and wires and making up of heaving lines.
7. To carry out routine testing of deck equipment, under supervision.
8. To participate in emergency drills and procedures in line with safety requirements and best practices.
9. To perform jumping duties ( where safe to do so), moor/unmoor the craft alongside and rig gangway for safe access to the vessel.
10 Observe all safe working instructions and procedures, report any non-conformances to the vessel officers ( Chief Marine Engineer Officer and Master- Tug Boat). To carry out reasonable instructions as directed by vessel officers on-board ( Chief Marine Engineer Officer and Master - Tug Boat).
12. Store all equipment in designated areas resulting in a safe vessel.
13. Dispose of waste in designated area/bins.
14. Perform bridge lookout duties when craft underway.
15. To provide supervision and training, where required, thereby ensuring continuous training and development of skills on-board the vessel resulting in a well-coordinated teamwork.
16. To check from time-to-time that relevant qualifications are valid, kept as records, and readily available when required.
17. To observe all times, that the safety standards are followed thereby ensuring promotion of safety and wellbeing culture on-board the vessel.
18. To understand emergency signals and act accordingly.
19. To be able to do a fire patrol and report accordingly.
Qualifications and Experience
• Valid Certificate of proficiency as a General-Purpose Rating

Position Purpose
To serve a as a (rating) positioned in a capacity of AB (Deck or Engine) on a tug, Launch, Pilot Boat, Work Boat or Floating Crane operating within the confine of the port operations area.
Be responsible for the safe and efficient handling and /or operation of ropes, wires, Winches, capstans, and other deck equipment during the shipping operations,
To perform maintenance duties on the deck, accommodation, tank, void, and engine room spaces of the crafts including general cleaning and housekeeping thereby ensuring a safe, and reliable and professional delivery of marine fleer services to the client.
Participate in Bridge and/or Engine Room Resource Management activities as and when required by the Master or Chief Marine Engineers Officer, i.e. perform look out duties on the bridge.
Be responsible for the efficient and economical use of paints, working tools and consumable stores.
To safely operate all deck or engine lifting, towing, cleaning and pumping machinery as and when required by the Master and/or Chief Marine Engineer Officer.
Position Outputs

To carry out and participate in maintenance duties on deck and/or engine room spaces of the crafts, including (but not limited to) general maintenance and spot chipping of corroded spaces and fandering equipment
To carry out and participate in maintenance of craft equipment, including (but not limited to) general wash down of internal and external spaces, decks, superstructure, hull and /or engine room and workshop spaces
To perform hygienic cleaning of all domestic area including cabins, accommodation, heads and galley thereby ensuring safe and hygienic living conditions are maintained at all times.
To carry out and participate in splicing of ropes and/or wires and making up of heaving lines as and when required
To carry out and participate in routine testing of deck and/or engine room equipment, under the supervision of either a Master and/or Marine Engineer.
To carry out and participate in emergency drills and procedures in line with safety requirements and best practices.
To carry out and participate in berthing duties (where safe to do so), moor/unmoor the craft alongside quays and rig gangways for safe access to vessel.
To comply with all safe working instructions and procedures, report and non-conformances to the vessel officers (Marine engineer and/or Master).
To carry out reasonable instructions as directed by vessel officers on board (Marine Engineer and/or Master) as determined from time to time for the safe and efficient running of vessels.
To store and secure equipment in designated areas for safety of vessel.
To dispose of waste in designated area/bins.
To maintain (at all times) the relevant personal qualifications and certificates of competencies in a valid mode and ensure records are kept safely and readily available for inspection when required.
To observe at all times the safety standards are followed thereby ensuring promotion of safety and wellbeing culture on board the vessel.
To understand and comply all emergency signals and act accordingly.
To perform fire and emergency patrols and report accordingly
To perform lookout duties.
