OPERATIONS MANAGER-ACID MINE DRAINAGE (AMD)
Location: Project Site - Germiston or Springs
Division: Project Management & Implementation
Reports to: Executive Manager: PMID
Nature of employment: 5 Year fixed term
Total Cost to Company: Market related

The purpose of this position is, but not limited to:
• Operate and maintain the AMD Plants within the design parameters and in accordance with the agreed standards.
• Lead and manage AMD Plants operators and other service providers on-behalf of TCTA.
• Manage all AMD Plants operation and maintenance records.
• Oversee shutdown planning and implementation.
• Implement OHSE Policies, specifications, and plans.
 
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The key performance areas of the role in focus, are:
 
1. Operations (AMD Plants).
• Review, improve and develop the operation strategy for the AMD Plants to achieve the production, continuous improvement, and water quality standards targets.
• Develop the breakdown response plan.
• Issue daily, weekly, and monthly reports to the TCTA Executive Manager and the Management Committee.
• Take full ownership of the permit to work system and the management of change procedure for the AMD Plants.
• Conduct integrity management activities to ensure operation within agreed parameters and assets health monitoring.
 
2. Asset management (AMD Plants)
• Review, improve and develop the maintenance strategy for the AMD Plant to achieve the reliability and maintainability targets.
• Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly execution of the maintenance plan.
• Conduct integrity management activities to ensure equipment and plants maintenance strategies.
• Ensure the application of the Management of Change procedure and the permit to wok system.
 
3. Efficiency
• Understand the maintenance and operation cost drivers of the AMD Plants, develop, and implement an efficiency improvement plan.
• Review the procurement strategies and plans and develop a cost-effective procurement strategy for the AMD Plants.
 
4. OHSE & Security
• Implement the TCTA OHSE and Security policies, standards, and plan to achieve the OHSE and security targets.
• Ensure the safety of TCTA employee and all service providers on the AMD Plants premises.
 
5. Operator and service providers Contract Administration
• Administer the operation and maintenance contracts in accordance with relevant contractual requirements and in conformance to TCTA standards.
• Provide assurances to ensure compliances to all applicable laws
 
6. General and People Management
• Develop and manage a business plan and budgets for the AMD Plant and the function (long term and annual).
• Develop and implement the operation and maintenance management systems for the AMD Plants.
• Supervision, management, training, and development of resources reporting to this function.
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• B Degree/ B Tech in chemical engineering
• 8 years’ experience in Operations Management or related of which 3 years must be at managerial/supervisor level
 
The successful candidate will be based on Site, and expected to travel between plants (daily, weekly or as and when required)
