A position has become available for an Assets Controller to join our dynamic team.
 
Job description
To control, collate and maintain assets and statistical procedures in the warehouse so as to provide exceptional service to both internal and external customers.
 
Key Performance Areas:
  • Compile asset statistics and reports on asset movement.
  • Complete audit of assets.
  • Conduct asset counts (stock take of assets).
  • Control the LUG and pallet holding period and documentation.
  • Control the repair and/or purchasing of assets.
  • File asset records and documentation received from retailers.
  • Maintain supplier service level agreements.
  • Process Transfer hire agreements.
  • Update all asset transactions on Portfolio Systems.
  • Manage expenses and recoveries in line with budget.
  • Monitor daily Asset Management reports.
  • Build and maintain effective customer relationships.
  • Effective communication with customers (internal and/or external).
  • Monitor professional service to customers (internal or external).
  • Conduct store visits.
  • Investigate SHEQX incidents in department.
  • Maintain housekeeping of department.
  • Maintain Food Safety Standards with regards to cold-boxes and crates.
  • Create and manage SAP expense purchase orders for Inbound.
  • Manage the recycling initiatives i.e., cardboard, plastic, used oil and any other recycling drives.
  • A working knowledge of SAP will be advantageous.
  • Any other reasonable tasks.
 
Minimum requirements
  • Matric.
  • A National Diploma in Transport Management will be an added advantage.
  • 2 years’ experience in a warehouse environment.
  • Experience leading a team.
  • SAP knowledge advantageous.
  • Computer literacy essential (MS Excel is essential).
  • Attention to details and accuracy.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with internal and external customers department, management, and service providers.
  • Attention to Detail (Work Standards).
  • Continuous Improvement Orientated.

  • Flexible to work overtime including weekends when required.

Based at the SPAR KZN DC, the successful incumbent will secure new business opportunities for the Build it division through the identification of strategically placed sites or conversions, and selection of suitable retailers.
 
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
  • Ensuring that Build it has a strong presence in the retail property development industry.
  • Ensuring Build it is a preferred choice with landlords and developers for new developments.
  • Pursuing conversion opportunities to grow the retail footprint for the region.
  • Evaluation of prospective sites for new Build it stores.
  • Identify funding opportunities for new and existing Retailers and sites.
  • Conduct feasibility studies for new developments, store sales, leases, etc. as the need arises/requested by management.
  • Presentation of selected sites to Property Committee and Regional Committee for membership approval.
  • All matters relating to leases within the region over which the incumbent will have domain including queries, renewals, new leases, etc.
  • Interview and evaluation of prospective Retailers.
  • Initiation and management of the change of ownership within the region of the incumbent.
  • Conduct regional benchmarking exercises.
 
Minimum requirements
RETAIL PROPERTY EXPERTISE:

  • Property related tertiary qualification relevant to the role.
  • Firm understanding of retail property best practices and fundamentals.
  • Firm understanding of commercial terms and current trends in the retail property market.
 
FINANCIAL EXPERTISE:
  • Versed in analysis of financial statements particularly cashflow statement.
  • Firm understanding of financing options.
  • Ability to undertake and interpret financial feasibility studies.
 
MARKET KNOWLEDGE:
  • Firm understanding of macro-economic drivers of retail.
  • Grasp of retail benchmarks and key drivers.
