Weather Service (SAWS) is a Section 3(a) public entity under the Ministry of Environmental Affairs and is governed by a Board. The organisation is an authoritative voice for weather and climate related services in South Africa and is a member of the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) to fulfil a range of international obligations of the government. The South African Weather Service (SAWS) is therefore seeking to appoint an efficient and enthusiastic person to undertake the role of:
COMMITTEE COORDINATOR
Salary: Total Package Negotiable

Job Summary:
To perform and undertake all secretariat administrative functions under the direction of the Company Secretary.
Key Performance Areas:
• Ensure that Board/Board Committee meeting documentation is efficiently and accurately compiled and distributed on time
• Accurately draft agendas and matters arising out of previous meetings
• Ensure that resolutions are listed accurately within the required timeframe
• Accurate minute taking at all Board and Board Committee meetings
• Circulate draft minutes to the Committee Chairperson and Members within the required timelines and ensure signature thereof upon approval
• Communicate Board and Committee Resolutions to the relevant stakeholders
• Coordinate travel itinerary of Board Members and Company Secretariat
• Ensure that Board and Committee Members’ remuneration, claims and travel costs for attendance of meetings or Board related activities are accurately prepared, checked, verified and submitted to Finance as required
• Arrange logistical requirements for Committee meetings (room bookings, catering, virtual meeting invites etc.)
• Assist with the development of the Annual Meeting Plan and ensue adherence to Work Plans and Annual Calendar of Board and Committee Meetings
• Ensure compliance with best practice corporate governance, any applicable policies and/or procedures in relation to Board and Committee Meetings
• Accurately record conflict of interest declarations at meetings
• Establish and maintain an effective filing system for the office of the Company Secretary
• Comply to and participate in activities related to the TQM system in the SAWS as required
Minimum Requirements and Attributes:
• National Diploma in Public Administration, Secretarial or Paralegal field
• A CIS qualification will be an added advantage
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Committee Coordinator role
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Meticulous and pay attention to detail
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and frameworks
• Ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines and extended hours at times
• Good interpersonal and stakeholder management

SOUTH AFRICAN WEATHER SERVICE - WORK INTEGRATED LEARNING PROGRAMME 2022
Work Integrated Learning Programme: LEARNERS LIVING WITH DISABILITY
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) invites applications for eighteen months (18) Work Integrated Learning Programme.
We are looking for TVET College learners living with disability to join our Work Integrated Learning Programme in the following field:-
• Electrical Engineering N6 - 1 Position (Cape Town) – Ref: TECH 2022
• Financial Management N6 – 2 Position – Ref: FM 2022
• Business Management N6 – 1 Position – Ref: MB 2022
Applicants must satisfy the following requirements:
• An applicant must be learners living with disability who has just completed N6 in one of the above mentioned fields of studies.
• An applicant has been unemployed for a period of less than one-year after completion of N6.
• An applicant will be required to submit their CVs on the SAWS recruitment portal (clearly outline ID, Address etc.)
• Must not have working experience
Successful candidates:
• Will be paid monthly stipend of R5 500.
• Will be responsible for arranging their own accommodation and transport to the respective SAWS offices.
