The South African Weather Service (SAWS) is therefore seeking to appoint an efficient and enthusiastic person to undertake the role of: 
 
SENIOR SOFTWARE DEVELOPER (RE-ADVERTISEMENT)

Job summary: 
We are looking for a Senior Software Developer that will be able to develop and support existing applications. The main scope will include everything from back-end to client-side code, using optimal and efficient technologies, frameworks, and patterns. 
 

Key Performance Areas: 
• Planning, design, and development of solutions based on industry requirements. 
• Delivering a high-quality application. 
• Analysing requirements and designing new functionality. 
• Integrate website with back-end systems. 
• Manage the redundancy, availability, and speed of the web. 
• Strive for quality of performance, usability, reliability, maintainability, and extensibility. 
• Writing development reports. 
• Testing and Deploying Developed Systems and Applications. 
• Supporting and enhancing existing functionality. 
• Troubleshooting, debugging, maintaining, and improving existing systems. 
• Assist in the development of SOP. 
• Innovate and introduce new products in terms of software development. 
• Come up with ideas on how to improve the existing systems. 
• Assist with Helpdesk tickets assigned to Web Support. 
• Provide assistance & training to Internal and external clients. 
• Coaching and Mentoring of Interns. 
• Draw up and implement project plan. 
• Maintain documentation and procedures as required by TQM. 
 
Minimum Requirements and Attributes: 
• A Degree or equivalent qualification in Information Technology or related field
• A minimum of 6 years’ working experience in Software Development 
• Solid knowledge of programming languages including JavaScript, HTML5, SQL, C++ and 
Web API is essential. 
• Highly proficient in C# and .NET, focusing on ASP.NET MVC is a must have.
