The South African Weather Service (SAWS) is a Section 3(a) public entity under the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries (DEFF) and is governed by a Board. The organisation is an authoritative voice for weather and climate related services in South Africa and is a member of the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) to fulfil a range of international obligations of the government. South African Weather Service (SAWS) strives to be a Weather and Climate Centre of Excellence providing innovative solutions to ensure a weather-smart region, sustainable development and economic growth.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) is therefore seeking to appoint an efficient and enthusiastic person to undertake the role of:

Job summary:
As a Senior Software developer, you will be responsible for configuring and customizing SharePoint systems according to specifications, building scalable web applications, writing and modifying code, debugging software and training staff.
You will drive the design, development, maintenance, and administration of SharePoint environment using both programming and project management skillsets.
Key Performance Areas:
• Planning, design, and development of solutions based on business requirements.
• Delivering a high-quality and secure solution.
• Analysing requirements and designing new functionality.
• Administration and Development of SharePoint/M365/Teams
• Developing SharePoint web parts, site templates, document types and content types
• Management and maintenance of SAWS enterprise metadata
• Create website designs using UI extensions, page layouts, themes, and display templates using SharePoint Framework SPx
• Create pages for all devices using HTML5, JavaScript, Typescript, jQuery, CSS, SQL, Bootstrap, or responsive design.
• Build web components, list/libraries, content kinds, site columns, master pages, search navigation, permissions, and data management.
• Integrating SharePoint/M365 with third party applications
• Assigning tasks to junior developers such as webparts, testing, and analytics.
• Manage the redundancy, availability, and speed of the SharePoint environments.
• Strive for quality of performance, usability, reliability, maintainability, and extensibility.
• Writing development reports and technical documentation.
• Manage project timelines and tasks.
• Adhering to SAWS quality management system principles.
• Develop and test data flow processes according to clients and application needs.
• Testing and Deploying Developed site templates.
• To help embed ITIL Principles across the team, including direct responsibility for key ITIL Processes (i.e. Problem management, Change management, Service Transition etc.)
Minimum Requirements and Attributes:
• A National Diploma or equivalent qualification in Information Technology or related field
• A minimum of 6 years’ working experience in Software Development
• Solid Knowledge and Experience of SharePoint development and Administration
• Solid Knowledge and Experience of PowerApps and Power Automate.
• Practical experience in the use of PowerShell
• Knowledge and Experience of Azure DevOps
• Experience of integrating SharePoint with third party applications - using CSOM, JSOM, API, Object Models etc. • Strong practical knowledge of SharePoint Search Service, User Profile Service, and other Service Applications
• Knowledge of Power Agents (Bots) will be added advantage.
• Knowledge and Experience of Power BI will be added advantage.
• Knowledge of .NET frameworks will be added advantage.
