The South African Weather Service (SAWS) is a Section 3(a) public entity under the Ministry of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) and is governed by a Board. The organisation is an authoritative voice for weather and climate related services in South Africa and is a member of the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) to fulfil a range of international obligations of the government. South African Weather Service (SAWS) strives to be a Weather and Climate Centre of Excellence providing innovative solutions to ensure a weather-smart region, sustainable development and economic growth.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) is therefore seeking to appoint an efficient and enthusiastic person to undertake the role of:
LOGISTICS SENIOR OFFICER
Salary total package: Negotiable
Centre: Centurion

Job summary: To ensure effective and efficient Logistics service the entire organisation including SAWS strategic plans and the external stakeholders.
Key Performance Areas:
• Generating new purchase orders on ERP system.
• Filing approved purchase orders and sending copies to the end user departments and suppliers.
• Following up overdue purchase orders and informing the end users with the status of the goods or service.
• Confirming purchase orders which need to be cancelled on the system with the end users.
• Receiving incoming goods from various service providers.
• Capturing of all invoices of delivered goods or service rendered.
• Monthly reporting of all committed purchase orders on the system.
• Monthly meeting with underperforming suppliers.
• Proper records or filing of the documentation.
• Participating in quarterly stocktaking at the warehouses.
• Issuing and capturing the requested stock from the warehouses.
• Issuing the booked vehicles to the internal stakeholders.
• Monthly fuel reconciliation per cost centre.
• Assisting with couriering the goods or parcels service to the regional SAWS offices.
• Ensuring compliance with approved SAWS Policies, SOP and Delegation of Authority.
• Ensuring compliance with PFMA, SCM related Acts, Regulations and Prescripts all the time.
• Assists in identifying potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk and makes recommendations to the Manager.
Minimum Requirements and Attributes:
• National Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Purchase Management, Logistics Management, Finance (NQF6) or equivalent.
• Supply Chain Management Membership/Professional Affiliation Preferred.
• A minimum 2 years purchasing experience.
• A minimum 3 years ‘relevant experience in Public Sector Supply Chain Procurement, with 2years in ordering and advanced excel experience.
• Assisting with couriering the goods or parcels service to the regional SAWS offices.
• Ensuring compliance with approved SAWS Policies, SOP and Delegation of Authority.
• Ensuring compliance with PFMA, SCM related Acts, Regulations and Prescripts all the time.
