The South African Weather Service (SAWS) is therefore seeking to appoint an efficient and enthusiastic person to undertake the role of:
Demand Officer (Supervisor)
Salary: Negotiable

Centre: Centurion
Job Summary: To provide efficient and effective Demand Management Services to the Organisation.
Key Performance Areas:
• Consolidate reports on the demand plan submitted for approval
• Coordinate the method for the procurement of goods/ services determined in line with the set timeframes of each requirement
• Report on progress made in terms of the demand plan reported on as and when required
• Liaise with business units to give input regarding their SCM requirements for the financial year.
• Conduct Market research to ensure sole/ single supplier validity, and/or identify possible alternative supplier/goods
• Compile a Bid Specification Committee calendar developed for each year.
• Chair the Bid Specification Committee meetings for procurement over R 500,000.
• Ensure efficient and effective guidance and advice provided to user departments when drafting specifications/TORs.
• Keep and maintain a record of all approved Specifications/TOR monitored, including the recording of corrective measures and/or additions to be made to specifications that will be used again in future to invite bids.
• Ensure that the template bidding documents are compliant to the requirements of National Treasury ensured and monitored.
• Ensure accurate recordkeeping
• Ensure accurate monthly reporting as required ensured
• Study and keep abreast of the relevant Public Service and organisational prescripts/policies and processes and procedures applicable to the Unit
• Provide input regarding policies and procedures as and when required
• Ensure that supplier queries are handled in a professional manner to avoid unpleasant customer relationships.
• Build excellent customer relationships
• Ensure regular training and communication with internal staff on internal procedures and processes to ensure service delivery.
Minimum Requirements and Attributes:
• National Diploma in the Financial/ SCM field, a Degree in the Financial will be an added advantage
• A minimum 3 years’ supervisory experience
• A minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in Supply Chain; solid understanding of demand management process and executing demand management strategies
• Knowledge of JDE or NetSuite will be an added advantage.
