The Business Development Markets & Embassy Liaison Officer is responsible to provide strategic support services to SA Missions in order to assist in execution of SA Tourism’s core business is marketing the country as a Leisure and Business Events destination.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Manage relationship with SA Missions
Develop South African Tourism relationships through the promotion of bilateral relations and execution of specific projects in all SA Embassies;
Provide market related advice to the Heads of Missions on Tourism related matters;
Support the SA Missions in the execution of the global trade and promotions strategy through appropriate content developed in conjunction with the Brand team;
Assist the SA Missions with hosting opportunities for both trade and media;
Identify international marketing opportunities and communicate to the relevant Missions;
Participate in Mission engagements & platforms where possible.
Marketing Support and Training Co-ordination
Manage projects to support delivery of marketing platform engagements with trade associations and key stakeholders both directly and indirectly;
Provide marketing collateral, sales toolkits, trade toolkits and reporting mechanisms that are critical in enabling the Missions to advance their tourism mandate in the most cost efficient manner;
Assist SA Missions where possible to execute trade familiarization tools that ensure tour operators and travel agencies sell South Africa optimally (SA Specialist, Destination Presentations, hostings at Indaba and Meetings Africa, Fam Trips both media and Journos);
Develop and manage training programmes appropriate for all DIRCO levels.
Building and Maintaining Relationships
Develop and maintain business relationships with Heads of Missions and tourism attaches;
Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to assist the missions to promote the South African tourism brand through collaboration and partnerships with business heads, trade and broader industry/sector players;
Establish leveraging opportunities and liaise with SA Missions to provide necessary support in securing maximum support for tour;
Develop and execute annual plans in line with SA Tourism objectives and key account management principles.
Information and knowledge sharing
Prepare and send out a quarterly publications of tourism specific information that is geared towards the Missions and that can assist them in achieving their tourism mandate;
Provide Quarterly performance reports.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Envisaged for appointment, is a seasoned professional with the following qualifications and Experience:
Degree in communications/public relations/marketing or relevant experience with a minimum of 5 years Middle Management experience;
Skills and Knowledge: Good leadership skills. Excellent financial management skills. Strategic development, excellent project management. Reporting writing skills. Good writing and verbal communication skills, Computer literacy.
Good networking skills.
5 years’ work experience in Government, Stakeholder Management, Project Management, or similar environment
Stakeholder’s relations, public speaking, strategic goal and objectives
All Public Service systems.
QUALITIES
Superior interpersonal skills- persuasive and influential;
Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal;

Sales Coordination

Prepare handover reports to the Coordinator: Support Services for the execution of Delegate Boosting and On-Site Event Services.
Keep abreast with South Africa’s MICE products and services through industry product presentations, site visits, primary and secondary research, and industry meetings.
Provide support for all MICE-related activities as requested by MICE Manager(s).
Assist with the hosted buyer recruitment process for Meetings Africa, including the logistical arrangement for the show’s buyer programme.
Client and Stakeholder Relationships
Assist with developing relationships with decision-makers to promote opportunities for association and corporate meetings and conferences, including incentive travel and trade exhibitions in South Africa.
Assist with developing relationships with key accounts (decision-makers) for bidding purposes.
Assist the MICE Sales Manager(s) with the planning and execution of in-market sales activities, including promotions, tradeshow arrangements, bid presentations and hosting of client dinners.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Tertiary Qualifications: Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in Sales and Marketing, preferably specialising in the MICE, Tourism and/or Hospitality industry.
Minimum 2 years experience in a sales or business development support role within the MICE industry.
Knowledge and expertise within the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) industry and understanding of the SANCB mandate will be an added advantage.
Experience in government operations is required.

Key Performance Areas:
In consultation with the Hub Head, and in conjunction with the Regional Brand Manager and PR Specialist, develop a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy and resultant plan for the hub
Manage and collaborate with a team of people from various agencies in the hub to ensure integrated agency workings, insuring home office involvement
Prepare all project briefs in conjunction with the regional brand manager in line with approved business plan objectives and budgets per hub country
Manage and supervise a team of people from various agencies in the hub to ensure integrated agency workings, where possible
Maintain production deadlines and deliver approved brand material timeously
Ensure that all media campaigns are executed within the specified timeframes
Monitor and analyze all media campaigns on a weekly basis to ensure that objectives and targets are being achieved and made changes where required to ensure optimum results
Manage and evaluate all agencies and supervise the delivery of their work to ensure integrated agency workings, where possible, for brand consistency
Develop and optimize an integrated traditional and digital media schedule in conjunction with the regional brand manager per country based on approved budgets (annually)
Monitor competitors marketing activity and react where necessary
Identify and negotiate strategic media partnerships with regional Media Groups to ensure frequent coverage and earning top of mind awareness
Monitor and research media coverage received per country hubs based on media engagements
Create a Media Influencers database and establish strong relationships with key influencers which resulted in positive media coverage
Identify potential media opportunities (internal and external) and develop a calendar that highlights the events and the action required
Ensure that the design and feel of the local websites and social media platforms are in line with the approved brand and trade strategies
Create monthly content plans for all local SA Tourism content platforms
Created and publish new content pieces/articles/posts/blogs including videos on the SA Tourism country websites and social media platforms in line with the global strategy
Increased website traffic, social media followers and engagement through a mix of online and offline marketing and promotional initiatives.

MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

An exciting marketing and communications opportunity exists at our Amsterdam Office in The Netherlands, to join our Tourism Execution business unit as a Marketing and Communications Manager. We invite applications from individuals who are passionate about promoting South Africa as a Tourism Destination and possess the required skills and experience.
Purpose of the Role
The Marketing and Communications role is responsible for developing the marketing and communications strategies for the hub, aligned to the global brand and trade strategy, ensuring management and implementation thereof.
Key Performance Areas:
In consultation with the Hub Head, and in conjunction with the Regional Brand Manager and PR Specialist, develop a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy and resultant plan for the hub
Manage and collaborate with a team of people from various agencies in the hub to ensure integrated agency workings, insuring home office involvement
Prepare all project briefs in conjunction with the regional brand manager in line with approved business plan objectives and budgets per hub country
Manage and supervise a team of people from various agencies in the hub to ensure integrated agency workings, where possible
Maintain production deadlines and deliver approved brand material timeously
Ensure that all media campaigns are executed within the specified timeframes
Monitor and analyze all media campaigns on a weekly basis to ensure that objectives and targets are being achieved and made changes where required to ensure optimum results
Manage and evaluate all agencies and supervise the delivery of their work to ensure integrated agency workings, where possible, for brand consistency
Develop and optimize an integrated traditional and digital media schedule in conjunction with the regional brand manager per country based on approved budgets (annually)
Monitor competitors marketing activity and react where necessary
Identify and negotiate strategic media partnerships with regional Media Groups to ensure frequent coverage and earning top of mind awareness
Monitor and research media coverage received per country hubs based on media engagements
Create a Media Influencers database and establish strong relationships with key influencers which resulted in positive media coverage
Identify potential media opportunities (internal and external) and develop a calendar that highlights the events and the action required
Ensure that the design and feel of the local websites and social media platforms are in line with the approved brand and trade strategies
Create monthly content plans for all local SA Tourism content platforms
Created and publish new content pieces/articles/posts/blogs including videos on the SA Tourism country websites and social media platforms in line with the global strategy
Increased website traffic, social media followers and engagement through a mix of online and offline marketing and promotional initiatives.
Monitored and responded to customer engagement to ensure that we build and maintain a strong online brand reputation
Manage Individual & Team Performance
Financial Management and Reporting
Manage the briefing and reverts process of in-market projects and ensured that they are aligned with the agreed strategy
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing/Communications/PR or equivalent
Minimum 5 years working experience in the marketing and communications, or public relations arena
Experience in tourism/travel is an added advantage
Strong digital marketing experience
Language proficiency: Dutch and English
Knowledge and understanding of:
Knowledge: negotiation skills, project management, financial management, people management, relevant language appropriate to hub needs
