Job Title: Specialist: Architect L5/6
(Systems, Applications, Data, Network, Host, DR, Security) – 2 Positions
(Position based in Pretoria, NPC)
Reports to: Head: IT Innovation and Architecture
Summation
Perform specialist Analysis, Planning, Design, Document, Evaluation and Research of the technology Domain specific System/Application Architecture for Postbank respectively across the specified Technology Domains (Systems, Applications , Data, Network, Host, DR, Security - but not limited to). Interact and provide specialist info to the Enterprise Architects, Developers, Support staff, Business Analysts, and Enterprise & Systems Architects according to project needs and Enterprise Architecture standards to provide market leading Infrastructure solutions that are expandable, reliable, available and serviceable.
Key Responsibilities
• Analyse specific (Systems, Applications, Data, Network, Host, DR, Security - but not limited to) technology drivers to determine technical System requirements
• Develop DRP Domain solutions
• Analyze current national information technology Application solutions pertaining to Domain focus area to detect critical deficiencies, single points of failure and recommend solutions for improvement.
• Analyze Domain specific industry and market trends and determine potential impact upon the enterprise Infrastructure.
• Define Domain specific principles to guide Infrastructure decisions for the enterprise according to EA standards.
• Design the implementation of a technology specific Infrastructure plan based on the specific technical requirements and infrastructure technology strategies
• Provide guidance and support for Domain Application/Data architecture implementation and modification activities
• Oversee the evaluation and selection of Application and software products for the specific Domain area, and the design of standard configurations
• Consult with application development projects to fit Applications to focus area system architecture and identify when it is necessary to modify the Domain Application/Data to accommodate project needs in collaboration with the Enterprise Architects
• Provide Domain Infrastructure solutions to Infrastructure development projects to fit infrastructure to specific technology and identify when it is necessary to modify the Technical Infrastructure to accommodate architecture needs
• Identify the user impact (skills, processes, structures) of changes to the technology specific Infrastructure
• Domain specific (Systems, Applications, Data, Network, Host, DR, Security - but not limited to) Infrastructure Research and guidance
• System RFP / RFQ creation and evaluation
• Document all Domain specific technical system design and analysis work
• Ensure the efficient management and control of function / resources in accordance with the stipulations of the PFMA, fraud prevention and risk management principles, corporate governance, legislation, company policies, processes, regulations, Delegation of Authority, etc.
Qualifications:
• Minimum B SC or B Com Degree (NQF Level 7) in computer science / Information Systems or any relevant IT related degree with minimum 6 years’ experience within applicable environment; or
• Minimum relevant National Diploma (NQF Level 6) and Certifications in Information Technology
Experience:
• Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in the Domain specific discipline in a software development environment, including, but not limited to, technical architecture, system /software development, middleware, database management, operations experience and knowledge of ICT technologies in the specific technology sphere (Systems, Applications, Data ,Infrastructure, Network, Host, DR, Security - but not limited to)
Knowledge and understanding of:
• Knowledge of Domain specific Systems/ Application solutions, processes and approaches
• Understanding of Domain specific IT applications, vendor and product trends
• Applications/systems business case formulation & Interpretation
• Quality measurement metrics
• Strong understanding of client/server processing and object-oriented design and analysis of specific Domain Skill set sphere
Specialist complexities:
• Exposure to multiple, diverse technical configurations, technologies, and processing environments
• Provide Domain Infrastructure solutions to Infrastructure development projects to fit infrastructure to specific technology and identify when it is necessary to modify the Technical Infrastructure to accommodate architecture needs
• Identify the user impact (skills, processes, structures) of changes to the technology specific Infrastructure
