Job Title: Senior Manager: Strategy and Scorecard (L4)
(Position based in Head Office: Pretoria)
Reports to
General Manager: Strategy
Summation
To support the General Manager: Strategy with the development of the strategy, aligning the rest of the Postbank business units and monitoring of the business scorecards. Drive the PFMA requirements in terms of quarterly reporting and other requirements. This role will be the single point of contact for all business architecture, strategy alignment and scorecard-related matters, working with internal and external stakeholders to track Postbank performance.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic alignment
• Support towards the translation, documenting, and communication strategic content of business strategy into a coherent and actionable plan that can be understood across the organisation
• Support towards the development of business transformation strategy and implementation plan to drive the bank’s transformation objectives and ensure alignment to business strategy
• Develop and provide continuous improvement of the overall business strategy templates and processes with coordination of other key support and line functions (e.g., Finance, HR, IT)
• Participate in various strategic initiatives:
• Provide input into the development of tactical departmental strategies
• Support the General Manager: strategy in the development of business strategies for the bank.
• Drive a business culture that is aligned to the bank’s strategy
• Perform research on banking trends and provide support on scenario planning based on opportunities/threats facing the unit
Financial
• Work closely with Finance, to provide the support to departments in the compilation of budgets and forecasts that are linked to the business strategy

Financial
• Work closely with Finance, to provide the support to departments in the compilation of budgets and forecasts that are linked to the business strategy
People Management
• Plan and prioritise resource requirements for the scorecard and business intelligence environment
• Provide support towards in the recruitment and development of skilled and talented staff for the strategy function
Operational
• Drive quarterly reporting in adherence of the PMFA and other regulations
• Capture the relationships among roles, capabilities and business units, the decomposition of those business units into subunits, and the internal or external management of those units.
• Capture the tactical and strategic enterprise goals that provide traceability through the organization and are mapped to metrics that provide ongoing governance.
• Describe the primary business functions of the enterprise and distinguish between customer-facing, supplier-related, business execution and business management functions.
• Define the data shared across the enterprise and the relationships between those data.
• Develop, manage and implement a knowledge management framework, process, system and strategy
• Drive the process to establish an environment conducive for knowledge sharing through the addressing of change management.
• Manage all knowledge management content, including portals, presentations, indexing and all applications
• Ensure timely availability, proper security, correct access and correctness of the content to the Company
• Assist General Manager in conducting market analysis utilising strategic analysis tools and frameworks and provide evidence based recommendations
Minimum Requirements
• Post Graduate degree in business or finance related field (NQF8) – MBA preferred
• 8 to 10 years business experience
• Adequate exposure (minimum 5 years) to the business strategy formulation processes
• Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in developing and implementing balanced scorecards
Knowledge
• In depth knowledge of industry (Balanced Scorecard) best practices, Thorough understanding of banking practices and the associated risk management thereof, Good understanding of Government related acts (PMFA, ECT, etc) and Banks Act, Sound knowledge of strategy development, Knowledge of retail banking, Exposure to knowledge management tools, In depth ability to have a broad, enterprise-wide view of the business and varying degrees of appreciation for strategy, processes and capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance, The ability to assimilate and correlate disconnected documentation and drawings, and articulate their collective relevance to the organization and to high-priority business issues, Experience using model-based representations that can be adjusted as required to collect, aggregate or disaggregate complex and conflicting information about the business, Extensive experience planning and deploying both business and IT initiatives
