Job Title: Manager: Financial Advisory & Intermediary Services (L5/6) – 8 months contract
(Position based in Head Office - Pretoria)
Reports to: Head Key Account Management
Summation
The FAIS Manager role qualifies as Key Individual in line with the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) regulations and the FAIS Act. The Key Individual is normally responsible for the management of the Representatives and the overall business management of the financial services part of the business (i.e. responsible for managing the sales department). This would be someone responsible to manage and oversee the provision of financial services within the business and very important, to ensure that the license conditions of the FSP are adhered to. The role will report to the Head of Key Account Management.
Key Responsibilities
• The FAIS Manager must ensure that the Representatives/Client facing employees comply with procedures and internal business processes when providing advisory or intermediary services.
• Ensure that the FSP offers to the market, only financial products for which they have been licensed for and within their license category
• Fully accountable for the execution of business objectives and financial metrics
• Review Representatives work to establish if products sold have been done in accordance with the license
• The role of the FAIS Manager (KI) is to ensure that all Representatives are fit and proper and that they conduct themselves in alignment with the fit and proper requirements, i.e. honesty and integrity
• Develop policies and procedures and perform validations/audits to ensure conformance with policies and procedures
• Stakeholder management at the highest level e.g. Exco, Board and Government
• Ensure that Continuous Professional Development takes place to allow for the continuous providing of financial
• Ensure that those who do not meet the honesty and integrity requirements are debarred.

• Any representative who offers services under supervision’s work must be reviewed by the KI to ensure that they attain full experience. KI will be responsible to sign off the portfolio of that Representative under supervision when that Representative has completed supervision before the supervision tag can be removed
• Build and maintain a high performing team through training and development and the imparting of skills amongst the team both vertically and horizontally
• Ensure efficient management of function / resources in accordance with the stipulations of the PFMA, fraud prevention and risk management principles, legislation, agreements, company policies, practices, procedures, regulations, etc.
• The FAIS Manager is also responsible for ensuring that the FSP submit financial statements and sign off compliance reports
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor Degree in Commerce/Business management (NQF7), Postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage.
• RE1 Certificate
• 5-6 Years Sales and customer relationship management experience in Banking/Financial Services environment of which 4 years at management level.
• Fulfil the terms of FAIS, any related legislation or regulation and any guidelines or regulations issued by the Financial Sector Conduct Authority
• Relevant and current financial service experience in a deposit taking environment
Knowledge
• Financial Services business principles, Company national strategy.
• Understanding of the social services and the mandates espoused by Government
• Knowledge of banking and related services. FAIS, POPI, KYC & TCF Acts
• Understanding of economic trends, Solid understanding of Customer Services and best practices.
• Understanding and analysis of performance measurement. Able to translate strategic plan into operational, financial, human resources, business plans etc.
• Understanding of all aspects regarding licenses agreements dealing with Customer Services
• Business growth strategy, Sales management, Key account management, Product knowledge
• Effective analysis of customer requirements, Human resource strategy and policies, Effective analysis of business environment
• Knowledge of SA political landscape, Understanding of spheres of Government, Understanding of the business of the FSP, the general regulatory compliance environment of the FSP as well as targeted clients
