Job Title: Fraud Investigator – C5
(Position based in KZN )
Reports to: Manager: Forensics & Investigations
 
Summation
Responsible to observe various customer transactions and account activity to proactively identify fraudulent activity; develop and maintain predictive fraud analysis models to flag suspicious activity; investigate reported cases; and coordinate case resolutions in conjunction with client service, information security and customers.

Key Responsibilities
• Determine if any potential fraud or suspicious activity might be carried out in the business and ensure that a stable financial system is created.
• Monitor real time queues and identify high risk transactions within the business portfolio. Report high risks and update the risk register.
• Investigate customer transactions to identify fraudulent and illegal activities such as account take over, friendly fraud, theft, forgery and similar other risks.
• Identify fraudulent transactions and cancel them from further processing
• Resolve queued transactions within the service level agreements to reduce potential revenue losses.
• Interact with banks and customers to validate information and to confirm or cancel authorizations.
• Prepare investigation files in line with court requirements and represent the investigation evidence in court
• Monitor constantly customer and transactional records to identify unauthorized transactions and fraudulent accounts. Ensure optimal use of the Transactional Fraud Mitigation system.
• Maintain fraud analysis models to improve efficiency and effectiveness of company systems.
• Ensure confidentiality of all information collected during investigation.
• Determine existing fraud trends by analysing accounts and transaction patterns.
• Identify system improvements to prevent fraudulent activities.
• Recommend anti-fraud processes for changing transaction patterns and trends.
• Recommend new software tools used for fraud detection, prevention and reporting activities.
• Generate suspicious activity reports and risk management reports for managers
• Work with the Security team to identify existing and new fraud schemes by analysing accounts and transaction patterns for changes and trends.
• Investigate and resolve externally reported issues as directed by Management
• Create management reports as assigned and required
 
 
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications:
• Relevant Diploma or NQF6 (Security Management and/or Fraud investigations)
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in fraud analysis and detection
Understanding of regulatory requirements related to fraud detection/investigation
Excellent computer skills (Microsoft office) and fraud detection systems (for example Mantas)
