Job Title - Manager: Collection and Recovery (L5/6) - 1 POSITION
(Position based in Pretoria, NPC)
Reports to - Senior Manager: Lending
Summation
Responsible for development, implementation and management of the Lending Department Instalments, Collections and Recoveries capacity – policy, process, people and systems. Responsible for the overall continual reduction in total processing time, manage the credit portfolio within prudent risk and policy, focused at customer experience to increase Lending business profits.
Key Responsibilities
• Responsible for Lending Collections and Write Off Policy, strategy, process and procedure, people and systems for the whole unit
• Responsible for attaining targeted delinquency, loss and recoveries ratios, conformity to credit legislations and frameworks and compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements for all credit activities. Where external service providers are used for instalments, collections and recoveries processes, to manage performance, relations, efficiency and reporting requirements
• Accountable for a low cost operational Instalments, collections and Recoveries unit. To provide a meaningful, good quality departmental reporting to management and Credit Committee and similar
• Provide significant oversight and leadership directed towards entire instalments, collections and recoveries process, the consistent application of collections and write off policy, periodic credit reviews of collections and recoveries portfolio, and the assessment of the collectability of customers, with the goal of optimizing the mix of Lending business portfolio growth and impairments
• To manage the instalments, collections and recoveries staff, including their performance objectives/ targets, identifying training needs and motivating for relevant training, and providing mentorship where appropriate
• Manage stakeholder relations across the Banking environment through communication and promotional strategies aimed at establishing collaborative partnerships and synergies with stakeholders to develop tools and mechanisms to define benchmarks, inform approaches and address common needs
• Ensure that all Audit/ Board Committee/ Regulatory bodies’ Instalments, collections and Recoveries findings are resolved speedily to ensure effective governance and sound management of the Lending Instalments, collections and recoveries Unit.
• Ensure the efficient management, control, compliance and reporting of the function in accordance with the stipulations of the Postbank Board, Board Sub-Committees, National Credit Regulator, SARB, company specific policies and regulations, national legislation, Operational and Credit risk management principles, Delegation of authority, etc.
Minimum Requirements
• A degree in Credit, Law and /or Business Management (NQF7). A postgraduate qualification (NQF8) will be an advantage.
• An extensive credit payments, collection and recoveries experience in a relevant credit environment, with 5 - 8 years technical experience. Minimum 3 years management experience (i.e. a credit granting company, retail credit granting or banking specifically with unsecured lending market experience).
• Manage stakeholder relations across the Banking environment through communication and promotional strategies aimed at establishing collaborative partnerships and synergies with stakeholders to develop tools and mechanisms to define benchmarks, inform approaches and address common needs

Knowledge and understanding of:
• National Credit Act (amendments and Regulations), FAIS Act, POPI Act, Postbank Act, FIC Act, Banks Act, A thorough working knowledge of collections strategies, procedures, related legal issues and, Credit collections industry best practice from a decentralized model, Working knowledge of the legal actions associated to this environment; Proficiency in collections software applications e.g. Collections scorecards, Strategic process enhancement.
