Job Title: Database Administrator: SLQ (C5) (Position based in NPC, Pretoria)
Reports to: Manager IT Infrastructure
Summation
Install, upgrade, configure, administrate, maintain and deploy Microsoft SQL Server Databases. Maintain and support IT Microsoft Database Infrastructure Development. Provide guidance and advice on Technical Architecture, Designing, Capacity planning, Security Analysis, Configuration Backup and Recovery, input to Disaster Recovery and Planning, Development Tools, Enhancement Testing, Fixes and Documentations. Provide 2nd and 3rd level support service for IT Databases Infrastructure Production. Part takes and implements projects.
Maintain and provide 2nd and 3rd level support for IT Microsoft databases
Document Infrastructure development Microsoft databases
Conduct and prepare feasibility studies; develop client proposals, including estimates for costs, time and resources; prepare statistical reports: complete cost / benefit analysis and conduct business
Part take in Projects and successfully implement changes
Microsoft Databases new developments and enhancements
Summation

Capacity planning, security analysis and configuration backup and recovery, disaster recovery planning.
Provide advice and guidance on Technical Architecture.
Evaluate, monitor and manage the client’s database, application server and application performance.
Implement Clustering solutions.
Work alongside the customer, colleagues, partner(s) and other third parties.
Ensure that client issues are resolved, either as an individual or with assistance from an 3rd party external consultants.
Develop and maintain an up to date knowledge of practice specific SQL Server and related products and services
Manage the performance and capacity of a Microsoft Database systems environment
Minimum Requirements, Job requirements, Skills & Attributes
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications: National Diploma in Information Technology (NQF Level 6) or equivalent
MCDBA / MCTS certification (added advantage)
Experience: 3 – 5 Years relevant Microsoft DBA experience, particularly in relation to performance tuning, security, reliability, scalability, and capacity sizing, backup and recovery
Knowledge and understanding of:
In-depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server Database 2008/2012/14 Clustering
In depth knowledge of Windows Server, 2008 / 2012, TRANSACT SQL, VMware 5.1
Working knowledge of EMV Networker / Stratus
In-depth knowledge of Database backups, Recovery and Disaster Recovery using Veritas Backup Solution
Experience in research principles
Proven experience of designing, implementing and administering large Microsoft databases solutions
Demonstrate experience of providing expert advice and guidance in a customer facing role
Networking concepts
DTS and SSIS
SQL Backtrack will be an added advantage
Computer literate – Windows 2008, Server 2012, Clustering and VMware 5.1
Skills and Attributes:
Strong inter-personal skills, Time and priority management, Ability to work under pressure and to deliver against deadlines, Business orientation, Problem solving, Analytical.
Capacity planning, security analysis and configuration backup and recovery, disaster recovery planning.
Provide advice and guidance on Technical Architecture.
