The generic minimum requirements applicable to all the posts are as follows:• Applicants most display competency in the post-specific functions of the post • Be in possession of a Senior Certificate (Grade 12) • Be proficient in at least two official languages, of which one must be English • Must be a SA citizen • Must have no previous criminal convictions or criminal • cases pending • Be in possession of at least a valid light driver's licence • Applicants will be subjected to a vetting process which will include security screening and fingerprint verification • Any additional certificate courses in child sexual abuse and forensic assessments of children will receive preference • Proven experience and training in the field of child abuse, child development and the assessment of children • Computer literacy, interpersonal communication (verbal and written) and organising skills • Report-writing skills, communication and coordination skills • Must hire a high level of administrative maturity, tact and diplomacy • Applicants must also be able to analyse problems and work under pressure and willingness to travel.

Assistant Social Work Manager (Lieutenant Colonel - Band D) (1 Post)
Remuneration: R415 038 per annum (Level 10) (Ref. KZN FCS 01/06/2018)
Provincial Detective Services:FCS
Additional requirements:• BA degree (4 years) in Social Work with 3 years' practical experience in forensic social work • Experience at supervisory level will be an added advantage • MA (Forensic Practice) will also serve as an added advantage • Registered as a Social Worker with the South African Council for Social Service Professions • Must be a paid up registered Social Worker at SACSSP.
Core functions:• Monitor, interpret and review legislation and policies relating to forensic social work • Collect and submit quarterly and annual reports and social work returns to the Provincial Commander • Assist with the development of forensic social work training curriculum • Determine the training needs with regard to forensic social work • Present internal/external courses • Attend to complaints received in terms of forensic social work • Analyse and present management information regarding forensic social work functions • Maintain a database with regards to relevant aspects pertaining to forensic social work • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the service rendered by social workers conducting forensic social work • Conduct special forensic social work-related investigations • Manage the development, guidelines regarding the CPD points for social workers conducting forensic social work.
Language proficiency: Afrikaans and Zulu.
Principal Social Worker (Captain - Band C) (1 Post)
Remuneration:R329 490 per annum (Level 8) (Ref. KZN FCS 02/06/2018)
Provincial Detective Services: FCs
Additional requirements:• BA degree (4 years) in Social Work with 2 years' practical experience in forensic social work • MA (Forensic Practice) will serve as an added advantage • Registered as a Social Worker with the South African Council for Social Service Professions • Must be a paid up registered Social Worker at SACSSP.
Core functions: • Implement the national standards for forensic social work in respect of legislation and policies • Conduct forensic social work assessments and other related investigations • Compile quarterly forensic social work returns, audits and any information containing the successful investigation al child sexual abuse cases • Maintain and develop professional level of expertise by accumulating 20 CPD points • Establish and maintain an office management system pertaining to forensic social work • Act as an expert witness in court • Compile forensic social work court reports • Network with other professionals and organisations to ensure a multidisciplinary service.
Language proficiency: Afrikaans and Zulu
General: • Only the official application form (available on the SAPS website and at SAPS recruitment offices) will be accepted. The Z83 previously utilised will no longer be accepted. All instructions on the application form must be adhered to. Failure to do so may result in the rejection of the application • The post particulars and reference number of the post must be correctly specified on the application form • A comprehensive Curriculum Vitae must be submitted together with the application form • Certified copies of an applicant's ID, Senior Certificate and all educational qualifications obtained, service certificates of previous employers stating the occupation, proof of relevant experience in the field of the post and motor vehicle driver's licence. The copies must be correctly certified on the copy itself, not at the back. The certification must not be older than three months • Qualifications and driver's licences submitted will be subjected to verification checking with the relevant institutions. The South African Police Service will verify the residential address of applicants and conduct reference checks • Appointment will be made in terms of the SAPS Act, 1995 as applicable to the post environment • Applications must be mailed timeously. Late applications will not be accepted or considered • The closing date for applications is 2018-07-02 •If a candidate is shortlisted, it can be expected of him/her to undergo a personal interview as well as a practical assessment • Reference checking will be conducted on all short-listed applicants • Short-listed candidates for appointment to certain identified posts, will be vetted in terms of the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act, 2007 (Act No 32 of 2007) and the Children's Act, 2005 (Act No 38 of 2005). A candidate, whose particulars appear in either the National Register for Sex Offenders or Part B of the Child Protection Register, will be disqualified from appointment to that post. The Criminal Law (Forensic Procedures) Amendment Act, Act 37 of 2013 requires that all new appointments in the South African Police Service as from 31 January 2015 provide a buccal (inside cheek) sample in order to determine their forensic DNA profile. The forensic DNA profile derived from the sample will be loaded to the Elimination Index of the National Forensic DNA Database • All short-listed candidates will be subjected to fingerprint screening • Correspondence will be conducted with successful candidates only.
