SOUTH AFRICAN POLICE SERVICE
 
The generic minimum requirements applicable to all the posts (unless otherwise stated) are as follows: • Applicants must display competency in the post-specific functions of the post • Senior Certificate (Grade 12) (Food Service Aid is excluded) • Be a SA citizen • Fluent in at least two official languages, of which one must be English • Valid light motor vehicle driver's licence (for Police Act members only) • Ability to work under pressure as well as extended hours • Must have no previous convictions or cases pending • Applicants will be subjected to a vetting process which will include security screening and fingerprint verification.
 
The following additional post requirements will apply:
Lieutenant Colonel (Band 0) — Police Act: • Applicable NOF 6 qualification and 3 years' relevant experience in the field of the post, of which 2 years should be at supervisory level • For the post of Legal Support: LLB/BProc qualification and experience in policing environment will be an added advantage.
Captain (Band C) — Police Act: • Applicable NOF 6 qualification and 2 years' relevant experience in the field of the post, of which 1 year should be at supervisory level • For the post of Legal Support: LLB qualification and experience in policing environment will be an added advantage.
Chief Administration Clerk — Public Service Act: 2 years' relevant experience in the field of the post.
Administrative Clerk — Public Service Act: • 2 years' relevant experience in the field of the post will serve as an advantage • Applicants in possession of a higher qualification in the specific field or who have completed an internship/currently undergoing an internship in the Public Service may receive preference • Competency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook may be an advantage.
Secretary— Public Service Act: • 2 years' relevant experience in the field of the post • Competency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook • Relevant courses in the field of the post may be an advantage.
Food Service Aid — Public Service Act: • Grade 10 qualification will serve as an advantage • Basic literacy, numeracy and communication skills • Ability to read and write.
