SOUTH AFRICAN POLICE SERVICE (SAPS)
The South African Police Service hereby invites unemployed graduates who conform to the requirements for a twelve (12) months Graduate Recruitment Scheme at Division Human Resource Development. The Graduate Recruitment Scheme is part of the National Human Resource Development Strategy and the National Skills Development Strategy.
Generic requirements:
*Be a South African citizen;
*Must be in possession of National Senior Certificate or equivalent (NCV L4);
*Must have no previous criminal conviction(s) or case(s) pending;
*Applicants must be unemployed, never employed in field of the advertised post and never participated in an internship programme relevant to the field of the post;
* Proof of residential address to be attached;
*Applicants are restricted to apply for only three (3) positions and complete a separate application form for each post reference number.
Intern categories with minimum requirements:
Graduate Intern: Tertiary Qualification is required (Statement of Results must be attached).
Student Intern: Practical experience required by the Tertiary Institution in order for learners to finalise their qualification (letter from the Institution not older than two (2) years must be attached).

Horticultural Intern (1 Post)
Section : Supply Chain Management (Gardening and Surroundings)
Location : SAPS Academy Paarl, WC

Additional Requirements: *Be in possession of a three (3) year National Diploma in Horticulture on at least a NQF 6 or higher level, recorded on the National Learner Record Database (NLRD).
Core Functions: *Assist with: *Identify the major soil types and their uses in plant propagation and landscaping *Utilise manual irrigation systems to provide the correct application of water to plants *Produce ornamental plants from stem cuttings *Apply pest control practices in plant production and landscaping Utilise the principles and practices of providing plant care and nutrition for ornamental plants and landscaping* Recognition of common ornamental plants and their uses.
Student Intern (1 Post)
Section : Supply Chain Management (Gardening and Surroundings)

Additional Requirements: *Be in possession of a National Certificate: Landscaping (NQF 03), recorded on the National Learner Record Database (NLRD).
Core Functions: *Assist with: *Ensure health and safety standards in the horticultural industry. *Maintain practices of providing plant care and nutrition for ornamental plants and landscapes. *Shape trees and shrubs to promote flowering. *Ensure that alien invader plants are controlled. *Recognize a range of ornamental plants used in horticulture and care for plants that require special attention. *Ensure that grassed areas are maintained through the application of mowing and de-thatching practices. *Ensure that the irrigation systems installed in landscaped areas are properly maintained. *Supervise and maintain specific sports turf areas.
Equine Graduate Intern (2 Posts)

Additional Requirements: *Be in possession of a three (3) year National Diploma / Degree in Equine Management and Training / Equine Performance coaching / Animal Health Technician / Veterinary Nursing, recorded on the National Learner Record Database (NLRD) on at least a NQF 6 or higher level.
Core Functions: *Assist with: *General duties within farm and horse management; *Identification of visible signs of horse diseases and liaising with veterinary services; *Implement basic ration formulation of horse feed and monitor the horse’s nutritional requirements; *Monitor the welfare and nutrition of field horses; *Handling and taking care of a mare and foal from birth to weaning; *Conduct daily inspections to check fodder and concentrates levels as well as the stacking and cleaning of stores; *Dipping, grooming and feeding of horses; *Assist with administrative processes within the sub section.
