POLICE ACT
The SAPS offers careers in various fields. If you join the SAPS you can either become a police official or a civilian employee. Police officials are employed in terms of the South African Police Service Act, 1995 (Act No 68 of 1995). Civilian employees are employed in terms of the Public Service Act, 1994 (Act No 103 of 1994). Most functional Police Officials are directly involved in preventing, combating or investigating crime. The other Police officials and civilian personnel carry out support functions.

Generic Requirements:
Applicants must display competency in the post-specific functions of the post;
Be in possession of a Senior Certificate (Grade 12),
Be a SA Citizen,
Be fluent in at least two official languages, of which one must be English;
Be in possession of a valid light motor vehicle driver’s licence (for Police Act members only),
Must have no visible tattoo/s when wearing summer uniform (for Police Act members only),
Must, have no previous convictions or cases pending.
Applicants will be subjected to a vetting process which will include security screening and fingerprint verification.
Post Requirements:
A National Diploma in information Technology/Information System/Internal Auditing/Accounting. A minimum of 2 years IT auditing experience. Knowledge of IT systems and Microsoft office will be an advantage.
Core functions:
Conduct audit system description. Develop an IT audit programme. Conduct Audit programmes steps on information Technology audits. Conduct field work and collect relevant, sufficient, reliable and useful audit evidence. Conduct general and application control reviews. Assess and evaluate audit evidence of IT systems. Develop electronic audit working papers. Develop audit findings and obtain management comments from clients.
Attend entrance and exit conference meetings. Document minutes of the entrance and exit meetings. Reference and cross reference working papers. Prepare audit files.
Skills and Competencies:
Good communication (written and verbal) Presentation Skills. Ability to work under pressure for extended period of time.
General

The certification must not be older than three months.
*Qualifications and driver’s licences submitted will be subjected to verification checking with the relevant institutions. The South African Police Service will verify the residential address of applicants and conduct reference checks.
*Appointments will be made in terms of the SAPS Act, 1995 or Public Service Act, 1994 as applicable to the post environment.
*Applicants appointed under the Police Service Act will be subjected to a medical assessment by a medical practitioner as determined by SAPS prescripts.
*Applicants appointed under the Police Service Act will be subjected to undergo a lateral entry training programme at a SAPS training institution, where applicable.

* If a candidate is short-listed, it can be expected of him/her to undergo a personal interview as well as a practical assessment.
